lab276
The buzz for this one did feel really muted compared to the first two, though. Not that that fully explains a possible sub-$130M opening but still. It would be really something else if Guardians of the Galaxy won the year. Really? A Marvel film at the top of the charts "something else"?

pepsa
I hope this earns less than 100M on it's OW, than this would be the year with no movie opening above 100M. Sadly it won't happen, but I hope
filmlover
First Interstellar. Now HG. This has been a fun month. Imagine if The Hobbit did less than $200M. The drama llama would love that one.
Wrath
Yes. Tha proves your point exactly. Ok, maybe it doesn't prove it in mathematical fashion, but failing to see how it doesn't at least support the argument smells like trolling. grim22
Looks like The Wrap ran last years numbers again by mistake. Their article only had comparisons to Hunger Games 1 and not Catching Fire. Some intern is probably getting an earful right now.

DAJK
Maybe I spoke too soon about being so happy. Still, maybe this is understandable. I'm pretty sure it's the same everywhere, but where I live, the hype for MockingJay is NOWHERE NEAR the hype for CF was a year ago. It went from "catching fire in a month! Wanna get a group together to go! Now now now LET'S GET TICKETS!!!" to "MockingJay comes out tomorrow wanna go? sorry I can't tomorrow. okay well then let's go next weekend" With this 17M number, 158M is not happening, but I think better Thursday-to-weekend multiplier to be much better than CF (I think 140 is still in play). filmlover
Really? A Marvel film at the top of the charts "something else"? A Marvel movie that isn't a sequel or based on an existing (read: obscure) property. It's early though. Don't ring any alarms until the full opening day is in tomorrow morning though.
