elcuervo
Those international numbers are great! Dead at the Wrap though. Such flops on that site.

iceroll
Honestly, Lionsgate definitely deserves the blame for this number, they did an amazing marketing campaign for THG and CF and then just got lazy with MJ1. There weren't nearly as much promotions going on, and this franchise really relies heavily on the general public compared to Twilight and Harry Potter. They assumed that they could cheap out on the ads and exposure but boy were they wrong. Two MINUTE long "trailers" and no promotions with events like the MTV Movie Awards. SMH this could really affect MJ2 as well, if people didn't see Part 1 they might not see Part 2 either.
Plain Old Tele
This thread is off to a great start, btw. We have a great chance to follow up last year's thread with one just as epic. Preview numbers already wildly over-estimated? Bravo, TheWrap, bravo!
John Marston
It's a Part 1 movie with little action. This drop is understandable

You're right about the weaker marketing but the movie itself looked far less appealing than CF.

Posts like these are insufferable. I highly doubt minute-longer trailers would have made a different.

rockNrollaDIM
Doesn't Nikki call them The Crap? She'd have a field day with this. This is why we need her. She would rip Sharon Waxman a new asshole. Damn you Penske.
filmnerdjamie
$17M is a still a great number, kidding aside. But I had a hunch it was going down based on those shitty soundtrack sales. It appears it just peaked domestically is all. Happens to everyone.
