The Expendables 4 | Chinese co-production | Scenes will be filmed in China. Stallone back in

Recommended Posts

I really like 1 and like portions of both sequels. The third is the worst cause of them trying to force the MMA athletes on us as action stars.

I won't my bad established action acting stars....no more MMA nonsense.

This next, last(?), installment needs to sent things out on a high note and try to match the first one as closely as possible.

Do what it takes, bury some personal grudges/hatchets, make some deals and get Kurt Russell, Steven Segal and maybe Eddie Murphy or far, far possibility Will Smith.

I love the first one. It was great fun.

The second was good, mainly due to Van Damm. He should of fought Lungren though.

The third was just way to over the top goofy and the younger characters were completely unneeded. Also, the ending was completely rediculous. A dozen people take out an entire army with hundreds of soldiers, attack helicopters and tanks! Ok lol

Take it down a couple of notches for the next one and give us ONE main villain.

I will say...the Expendables succeeds at being what it's trying to be...a stupid 80s action movie.

Perhaps a little less bloody. Yes.

But otherwise, it's doing that well. Granted, stupid 80s action movies are stupid. So...yeah.

The production values are a bit lame though.

Every movie looks cheap as hell, shot in a remote place in eastern europe.

There are some good moments but damn, I wish there had been more awesomeness.

Sounds like an 80s action movie.

At least the normal ones. You know, the ones...where the end action scene was always in a warehouse?

I do wish they had been more awesome though, you are right. They perhaps did what they were trying to do a bit too well. You're supposed to take the idea and elevate it.

I kind of joked about actors from the series being replaced by Chinese actors but I do wonder how much of that will happen given that previous co-productions have given Chinese actors small parts and instead just used China as the location for a large part of the movie.

Also who will be the token female this time, I'm assuming it won't be Rousey based on her schedule, so we've got to find another young women to interact with men 30 to 40 years older than her.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised. The Expendables 3 was a franchise killer, by all means. Stallone is part of everything that went wrong with the movie, starting with the laughable PG-13 rating.

Besides, Stallone went on to make Creed and GOTG 2. I don't think he's gonna be back to Expendables.

Good thing that John Wick easily replaced the series and it's probably the best action franchise in years. Let's hope they won't fuck up by trying to pull a pg-13 rating like what happened to Robocop 3, The Expendables 3 and so on.

I mean, I've see critics like Grace Randolph saying John Wick didn't need the R rating. So, I'm afraid, lol. :)

For whatever reason, Sly didn't get the message of what we wanted this franchise to be.

The difference between Expendables and John Wick is that in terms of the PG-13 rating, there were murmurs that the first two Expendables would go after the PG-13, especially the second one what with Chuck Norris' comments.

John Wick was always intended as an R. I don't think they'd throw that away after the success of the second.

Yeah, I don't care.  These movies never fully embraced what they should be.  Granted I won't lie...if they had...I don't know if it would've made more money.  I mean I just wanted dumb 80s action.  And...well, they were dumb.

Hey theyre still fun though.  But Sly yeah, good choice move on.  And without Sly...this doesn't need to exist.

Sylvester Stallone Exits The Expendables Franchise

Toink.

Funny, here this news is not of much interest or boxofficetheory-users are just smarter and know that this is not a final decision ;). In Germany it was one of the most clicked and commented news of the last weeks. Many thought it was an April Fools' joke because it was reported one day later here (The Expendables had 862k admissions, TE2 had 1.214M admissions, the third one only 697k. Many fans were very pissed when it was announced that EXP3 will be PG-13 and I completely underestimated the impact that this rating had, I have to admit. But people were also very forgiving when Stallone said that it was a big mistake).

I read this evening e.g. at hsx that Arnold Schwarzenegger won't return too if Sly Stallone doesn't return. I guess the producers won't risk it without both of them and really hope they come to an agreement and find a good team. There're a lot of actors left which I would like to see in this series.
