I just got back. It's great. Cooper is amazing in the film.

I expect a very good film from a technical POV. Cooper is a great actor and I generally like Eastwood's work. I am much more interested in the socal aspect though. In fact, if it wasn't so controversial I wouldn't have watched it at all.

Just saw an ad for Focus which ended with "Experience it in IMAX". Is WB post-converting basically every single movie in IMAX now or something?

It is the same everyone else is doing. FOX converted Penguins, Exodus, Maze Runner, Night at the Museum 3, Taken 3 and Kinsgman. Sony released The Equalizer and Fury in the format as well.

Jesus. 90 million? I was thinking it would make that total. But "Matrix Reloaded" survives, lol.   I guess the film has played well in middle America as far as patriotism but also the action junkies turned out.  Very nice opening.  It seems like Clint hasn't been able to catch a break.  His last 4 films definitely under performed.  Well for all the talk in the last 3 years if Bradly Cooper is a "draw" or not.  Well this is his 1st BREAKOUT hit as far as him being the Star.  "Playbook", "Hustle" and "The Hangover Trilogy" all did well but those were mostly ensembles.  This movie Bradley carries himself.  So congrats to Clint and Bradley.

I saw an Oscar screener of the film over a friends house last week.  I thought it was pretty good movie, had some propaganda moments cause Clint is clearly a conservative.  As for the rest of the numbers.  No to great hold for "Taken 3" though still a huge drop.  "Wedding Ringer" had a normal January opening.  Kevin Hart continues to show his drawing power.  It was only a 20 Million  budget.  I think "Pannington" would of done a lot better closer to a Summer release than in Jan.  "Selma" had a nice hold for it's 2nd weekend, starting to show some legs. Just as Bradley proves his "Draw" power, Chris Hansworth proves that he might not be much of a draw outside of Marvel/Thor.  "Blackhat" bombed bad.  But this is a nice start to 2015.  If only "America Sniper" wasn't a 2014 movie, lol.

True. Just like Christopher Reeve always had Superman and Sam Worthington will always have Avatar. All fine and dandy, and better to be a handsomely-paid player in a major blockbuster than being an unknown struggling actor who never makes it, but these people always want to be seen as having some sort of appeal beyond franchises and tentpoles. Thing is, that none of those seemed/seem to have any appeal to the masses beyond very specific roles in which, frankly, they don't have to act. All the heavy lifting is done by the special effects and the high-concept superheroics. I highly doubt that anyone goes to see  aThor movie in order to catch "the latest Chris Hemsworth" movie.

Wait. Are you saying  Christopher Reeve was not a good actor?

SELMA decreased on MLK weekend, clearly black people didn't really give a shit about it either so all these SELMA apologists bashing AS on twitter crack me up big time.

I don't know if your serious but "Selma" numbers thus far is probably mostly cause of Blacks.  Sadly other races are the ones who aren't turning out as much.  Also considering the competition, that was a good hold.  People are talking sh!t about "Sniper" on twitter cause a lot of people view it as U.S. War propraganda.  Also "Selma" was robbed at the Oscars which is why they are in a huge Racial Drama now.  Also lets keep things in perspective.  "Selma" only had a 20 Million budget.
