RAMPAGE | 13 April 2018 | Warner Brothers | Dwayne Johnson

Recommended Posts

This has to be one of the most obscure video game adaptations ever. The vast majority of people (even gamers) probably didn't even know about the source material prior to all the articles about the film coming out. Considering the games seemed to have been universally panned, I suppose that's not surprising.

This is like saying people don't know about DONKEY KONG or FROGGER. RAMPAGE was very, very popular back in the day.

That was before my time then because I honestly have never heard of it prior to this film coming out. Perhaps it's because DK and Frogger have had multiple successful games well past their arcade debut to remain cemented in popular culture.

It probably was. I don't mean this in a snide way, but how old are you?

Eh, wobbly comparison there. DK and Frogger have an enduring legacy and have remained very well known in the case of the former and at least moderately well known in the case of the latter over several decades. I highly doubt much of anyone who wasn't an 80's kid/teen knows about Rampage.

26, so I probably wouldn't remember any video game that predates the SNES. DK and Frogger games were still at their peak of popularity in the 90s when I grew up.

c'mon man me and my brother used to play rampage all the time. it was fun the monsters turned back into little naked people when they died.

anyway i was very concerned about the most recent trailer seemed to be more focused on the rock action and blah blah blah government conspiracy when all the people want is GEEEEEEEOOOOOOOORGE

I used to rent the SNES game from the local rental place all the time. It was definitely popular in the mid-‘90s.
