Aladdin live action movie | 24 MAY 2019 | Disney | 7th most profitable movie of 2019. Disney does it again!

What comprises "hurt"? I think all of the premature hatred is more harmful. Godzilla has its audience. Aladdin has its audience. The two don't really blend.

So, does it cause Aladdin to make less than $400 million domestic? Less than $350 million? Less than $300 million?

If the crowded late May market hurts movies, then it will hurt Aladdin and Godzilla equally. Aladdin is quite the formidable brand, especially OS.

June barely has blockbusters aside from Toy Story 4 which comes out on the 21st. It should give both films good legs. Dark Phoenix and MIB: International aren’t a threat since they’re both part of dying/dead franchises with reducing interest.

X-Men is still a strong brand in China and others parts of Asia and Latin America.

With the underperformance of Apocalypse and the bad word of mouth from the production of this film (alongside the script leak becoming legit), I wouldn’t be surprised if Dark Phoenix doesn’t surpass $400M WW. Domestically it’s gonna drop even harder.

Based on what exactly? The first trailer is far and away the best one this year, and generated quite a ton of buzz when it released alongside Aquaman, Shazam, and Fantastic Beasts. Also based on the early test screenings (including someone from this very own forum fortunate enough to attend), the film is very audience friendly. Aladdin might make more money in the end but Godzilla will definitely cut its legs.

The firsy Godzilla was badly received. It’s going  to hurt the openly of the sequel

So, these are the 1st pics I've seen from the movie...

Knowing that Beauty & the Beast went for CGI for its non-human characters...and Lion King is going full reality-based CGI...is there any reason Aladdin didn't make Will Smith's genie CGI?  I mean, in the animated movie, the genie didn't have legs and was blue...and we've seen fans do like making these aspects cooler (ala Beauty & the Beasts Lumiere), not more human-looking...

EDIT: And now I see you guys agreed, looking back 4 pages:)...

There’s seems to be enough buzz coming for it, the trailers have been generally well received, and other factors like the Millie Bobby Brown hype should help it open #1 against this film. After that, it all relies on the WOM.

Another problem with this movie: Jafar looks hot. In the cartoon Jafar is ugly and you want to root against him for that reason. In the live action movie Aladdin looks meh and Hot Jafar is well hot. Maybe that means in the live action Jafar will win

Are you saying actors should be cast on looks not talent?

The distinction between looks and talents is not an obvious one when your jobs is a really good part about what you look like when being photographed all day.

HA isn't it funny how people want to "hate" on ugly people and also want beautiful people to "win"
