Jake Sully is a way more interesting character than Han Solo on paper. Harrison Ford's charisma elevated a stock western character, the egoistical maverick that becomes a team player to bag the princess. Then it's a wrap, see how he phoned it in throughout ROTJ because there wasn't anything left worth exploring as a character.

I think maybe the expectation was he was going to die in ESB, maybe he was not written over 3 parts?

Weird because Thanos and Steppenwolf are on the same level of CGI mediocrity.

Steppenwolf had exact same CGI and style as the black order. Can especially be noticed when they speak.

Funny how people attack one and accept the other.

That is because Ebony Maw was pretty Cool, so much so he would rate as a pretty solid Comic Book Villian on his own.

Not sure about Steppenwolf, but Thanos was high level (and quite new) CGI, must have cost a fortune, the blend of realism injected into an obvious purple fake guy worked quite well. From Gollum to now the Apes&Hulk&Thanos... etc... maybe turned a corner and what is possible to do and what people will come up with.

The incredible thing about Thanos is that he was shared by two VFX studios. :

Digital Domain (every Thanos scene except ...) & Weta ( ... the whole Titan act) with two different pipelines.

Which is why Ford wanted to kill off Solo in ROTJ.

Aside from the CGI, maybe that the Black Order were better written as charecters had something to do with it...

When you're in a terrible movie, everything that's terrible is extremely noticeable.

Ebony Maw looked fantastic though, so I'm not sure what you're smoking. Also he was a cool character with awesome dialogue while Steppenwolf was just a walking piece of moldy wood.

Not even close. Steppenwolf looked like a character from the Warcraft movie or something. Same as the brother of enchantress in SUICIDE SQUAD. Awful.

Yes and so did Thanos: an orkish creature (painted purple). I don't know why so many CGI monsters look the same - and so videogamey.

The Warcraft movie had a great villain by the way (and his plan actually made sense).
