Seems like this man thinks this was an American accomplishment, unlike what Ryan Gosling is peddling.

I was the 1st Commandant of ARPS 1st school for training 1st astronauts. I am fully aware of US goals:Presidents Eisenhower, JFK, Johnson & Nixon: US will get to the moon 1st. & we did. 1st step was getting above MACH 1. We did that 1st, too https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/09/03/buzz-aldrin-says-proud-american-first-man-movie-leaves-us-flag/  @therealbuzz

Yea baby! While this mission was a first for all mankind the program had a very America-centric focus given the geopolitical balance at the time. Fortunately one film won’t diminish this accomplishment.

The flag is in the movie.

This controversy will be forgotten by the time the movie opens.

I doubt it. The crowd that gets riled up over perceived slights to the flag doesn't forget these things easily.

The catch is that it won't ultimately affect this film's box office in any significant way. Most of the people who will "boycott" probably wouldn't have bothered to see it anyway and most people who were genuinely interested in seeing it but are put off by the controversy will still see it and complain about the lack of Michael Bay-esque shots of the flag.

WOW the arguments in this forum are becoming dumber and dumber.

If the artist would have chooseen to end the movie with the:

That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind

Moment, put the foot on the surface said that, black screen to the generic would that have made the movie historically inaccurate ? Would Nolan Dunkirk not feature Churchill speech been historically inaccurate ?

The issue with not showing a long moment in a very time restricted medium like movies, does not make them incorrect.

And a choice that do not make the movie historically incorrect can still be criticized.
