Probably because gore, jumpcuts and over dependence on atmosphere can  easily become cheap clichés, used instead of creativity.  Something serous Horror  movie fans are well aware of.

Nothing is wrong with any of the above, but they can be easily misused and overused.

I say hurrah for Horror fans having some discrimination and not blindly accepting everything that is thrown their way by lazy filmmakers. Other fans could learn from them.

So when I search for The Nun on Bing it says this movie is playing near me right now. WTF? Did they already put in showtimes before the release date changed? I was getting excited that I could see it months before anyone else. 😂
