I wouldn't worry about the numbers just yet, they could go up. Right now it's just Deadline being Deadline.

Everybody's still reeling at the election and its insane aftermath.

Those protests, although only affect major cities keep people at home.

Remember the Dark Knight  Rises shooting?

Even TV ratings are down. Grey went below 2.0 which only happened once before years ago. Trump is killing this country.

Haven't seen Arrival yet but saw Nocturnal Animals which was pretty good. It'll be interesting which of the two films Amy Adams might get nominated for as leading actress.

Probably Arrival.

But love all this Amy Adams at once! I'm seeing Arrival tomorrow and Nocturnal Animals will be opening here next weekend (it's opening in 36 theaters next weekend, all in big cities).

One thing I liked about the film was how visually stunning it is, considering this is only Tom Ford's second film, he's proving himself to be a solid director, I do wonder if he might put his fashion career on hold to do more directing.

Does Nocturnal Animals have a chance at the box office or is it too offbeat and weird?

Deadline updated, no huge change for Strange or Trolls, both are still at 36M+ and 32M+. Arrival increased

http://deadline.com/2016/11/arrival-doctor-strange-almost-christmas-weekend-box-office-1201852814/

3rd Update, 5:25PM: With a bulk of kids off from Kindergarten to college today, Friday is expected be front-loaded at the box office.  One tracking source says that if you break down the weekend’s projected total tickets sales, the highest day is apt to be today with $52M, then ease to $50M tomorrow. Typically, it’s Saturday that’s the highest day in the weekend cycle.

But here’s where the big movement is taking place:Paramount’s Arrivalwhich is overperforming with a 3-day between $18.5M-$22.5M. Should it hit the high end of that figure, it would be a great start for the Amy Adams alien drama which the Melrose lot shelled out $20M for at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, and another $40M in P&A per industry sources. Rotten Tomatoes has it at 94% Certified Fresh, which could bode well for its legs this holiday season. Today, Arrival is looking at $8M-$9M today, which includes its $1.45M Thursday.

Universal’s Almost Christmas in 2,376 is currently banking on $6M-$7M for today (including its $500K Thursday previews) for a FSS of $16M-$18.5M, again well ahead of the low-to-mid teens that tracking was observing.

Everything else would have been ridiculous, Arrival is filling up pretty much all the shows it got.
Maybe it can challenge 10m. That would be amazing.

Don't forget it doesn't have many theaters, tho.

Strange was at $35-36M before on Deadline, so the update to $36-40M must mean Friday is trending up from that early $12.5M.

THR and Variety had it at 36M+ earlier. Deadline's projection was slightly too early. Probably looking at 13-14M Friday. 13 would give it 13-14.5-9.5 for around 37M and 14 would be 14-15.5-10 for 39.5M

12-13M for Trolls will be 32-34M. The Trolls hold is unreal.

A drop in the 55% range (around $38M) would be a pretty solid start for Strange. Taking out the Thursday previews that would be around -50% for Fri-Sun.

Trolls is indeed holding well, but it's going to be hit hard by Moana in two weeks. If it passes $150M, I don't think it will be by all that much.
