Not bad. 150M OS total is my guess.

I hope it's more than that. I think it only opened in, like, 3 counties before this weekend (plus it has a bunch more territories left in January).

But I really have nothing to compare this to so who knows.

Disney crossed the 3 Billion Dollar mark in a single year and they didn't bother to release even a short statement. What a confident mood!! they are killing everything  this year. 2016 is to remember for Disney and the film industry where a single studio managed such a big feat.

Disney didnt say anything because nobody's working this weekend. There are no actual numbers from Disney right now. When the actual numbers come in and they are verified by them I'm sure they will release something.

Too low, more like $250m+

Those markets alone may bring $130m, and it still has a lot of major markets to open, including China.

I agree

All of them are closed today, counts also for OS. A couple or so gave a bit for this film on country...

= every New Year :)

Data centres also closed I think.

They said ~ tomorrow early (before midday) US time the outlets will get details.

A lot of people wait for a lot of actuals here, e.g. WB + Sony didn't update since incl Christmas. Guess how some fans are feeling => :(

20th Century Women has made 2k less than Live By Night's entire run in the 3 day alone  Also, I gotta love how DHD uses bootleg images in their reporting :ohmygod:  (don't click if you haven't seen RO) http://deadline.com/2017/01/rogue-one-sing-20th-century-women-passengers-wednesday-box-office-1201876732/

It's a milestone alright, but not for a film or a franchise or actor (that someone can relate to) but for a faceless corporation. I definitely get the geek value of the number, but it's the cheering that bewilders me.

Unless someone owns their stock. Then it's perfectly understandable.

Corporations are only faceless when one forgets that they are made up of talented people, many of whom work darn hard and take pride in their work.  When a Corporation gathers enough of those talents to provide products that people are willing to spend their hard earned money to purchase to the tune of about $3B, that's worth noticing and acknowledging.

Disney dominated, crushed, and obliterated box office records left and right in 2016, proving that their "controversial" formula works, and in a big way too.  Almost every single film they released in 2016 was a "must-see," an "event," and fueled by their animated properties, they've accomplished a feat which no other studio has ever or will ever for a very long time be able to accomplish.  Almost every single film they released received unanimous critical praise and their films consistently tried to push the medium forward.  You can hate on Disney all you want.  You can disagree with their choices all you want.  And at times you may be immensely vexed with Disney as a company, but Disney has come a LONG way from its dark days as a company and even if unseen/unheard turmoil still exists somewhere within, their box-office receipts showcase the very power of the company and what its capabilities are.

Favorite Disney Films of 2016 (in no particular order, except for Zootopia being on top):

- Zootopia

- Finding Dory

- Moana

- The Jungle Book

- Rogue One

- Doctor Strange

- Queen of Katwe

I've yet to see Civil War, Pete's Dragon, The BFG, Alice 2, The Finest Hours, and The Light Between Oceans.
