Well anyone with sense saw the Sunday projection and knew it would drop for LB. Good hold for shades and Wick secures the 30m with that number.

That is a big drop from WB Sunday estimate. Universal nailed Fifty Shades. Lionsgate locks in the 30M OW for Wick.

First sign of John Wick 2 WOM imo....30% drop on Sunday for an R-rated adult action in February seems really nice. In fact, better Sunday drop than Lego Batman...get that 100m DOM Keanu.

Not that John Wick 2 has summer legs or anything, but I look to something like Edge of  Tomorrow as an example of a movie opening to around 30m and getting to 100.

 

JW2 won't have the Summer legs, nor the 'original' label to it, but it does have President's day weekend and lighter competition in the early going to offset some of that

Lets not forget it will get a pretty big bump on VD too. Lionsgate has released some marketing materials to tie in with the special day including the SB spot.

 

Both Kingsman and Deadpool played very well on VD.
