The Kitchen isn't having previews (or if it is, it is extremely limited in scope [and possibly down to theaters accidentally showing it]), so that would explain that bit.

Oh man, you're right, I completely spaced on that. So it's not quite one for the record books. But after checking on the Friday pre-sales, I think the theater must be wondering why they did book it. 7 tickets sold out of 624 available.  :gold:

LOL at most of the TC drops from Yesterday onwards. FFH and TS4 also saw a pretty sizable theater drop.

That's actually great for Spidey...lost less than Toys 4 with equivalent PTA...and stays in 71 more theaters than SMHC for the same weekend...so it should stay right on its tail or right above it all through the weekend...

Next weekend, it will be rough for Spidey to match SMHC's 2341, but not impossible if some of this week's releases don't make it to a full screen for weekend #2...

Dora increased a tad from the last check.  Now at .21996x Pika Pika for final check.  More or less the same point in time as Pika, if not a couple minutes earlier.

That gives 1.25m in previews.  No 3D so lets say,  around 1m in previews?  Nothing to write home about, but a nice recovery from earlier.

So my Dora numbers will be off because I forgot it was a 4PM show and then at 6:30 I was caught up in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (blame @Porthos)

That said:  Scary Stories is selling REALLY well.  AMC 25 was 75% full at 7 an 90% full at 7:30PM.  Locally, the Recliner 7PM theater at Cinemagic was 90% full as well.

Will have full update and comps after the 9PM shows.

I will post the full chart in a couple hours after the 11PM AMC 25 shows.  Lincoln Square and Cinemagic are done for the night, so we have:

Southern Maine Cinemagic
Movie Today   8/1 8/5 8/6 8/7 8/8 Total %   SOs Shows
Dora 15   12 17 17 20 35 1335 2.62%   0 9
Scary Stories 113   0 7 13 17 130 496 26.21%   1 6

Lincoln Square 13
Movie Today   8/1 8/5 8/6 8/7 8/8 Total %   SOs Shows
It: Chapter 2 --   306 416 -- 474 -- 2258     0 7
Racing In Rain 22   -- -- 6 16 38 398 9.45%   0 2

Thursday Comps
Movie Sold % Est
Cinemagic Chain
Scary Stories 130 -- --
MIB3 109 119.26% 3.70M
Rocketman 57 228.07% 3.99M
John Wick 3 186 69.89% 4.12M
Pika Pika 158 82.27% 4.68M
Dora 35 -- --
Pika Pika 158 22.15% 1.26M
Lincoln Square 13
Racin In Rain 38 -- --
OUATIH 1232 3.08% 0.178M
Rocketman 470 14.15% 0.142M

So the comps are coming out pretty consistent.

Scary Stories: 4.12M average

Dora: 1.26M

Racing: 0.160M average

I don't know if any of the comps are good ones, but we'll see in the morning.

Anywhere even close the 4 million preview number for Scary Stories would be incredible! Even if frontloaded, would blow past expectations for the weekend.

Dora is doing about as expected.

Should do decent walk-up business over the weekend and make it to the 20 million mark, but with Angry Birds coming out Tuesday (I was shocked when I saw this data on Mojo) it has very little room to breathe.

Not really sure what to use as a comp for this film, since as I understand it horror isn't that pre-sale heavy.  Maybe.  For now, gonna throw in a few recent ones along with JW2 and hope for the best.

Starting tomorrow, I will be shifting to the T-x day comp model.  As such all comps except for Detective Pikachu will be removed.  The comps that have been removed will reappear at some point, probably around the T-18 or T-17 area.

so the derby restarted for The Force Awakens, The Forest debuted by itself a few weeks later.

BOT was made BOT-2 a bunch of years before that

I don't recognize this forum as a public face, BOT isn't overcrowded, so there is probably a second BOT hidden somewhere.

I guess you'd have to talk to the mods about this...

What Thursday do we seem to be looking at for Scary Stories when using comps of similar films?

I'm not the expert for Thursday numbers (but several other members here are ;)).
Based on only the numbers of my 10 theaters, Scary Stories sold 2.63x as many tickets as Crawl which would be ca. 2.63M. BUT Scary Stories is based on a bestseller and therefore it could be that people ordered their tickets earlier and that Scary Stories has less walk ups than the original Crawl.
I hope that the good reviews and good trailers of Scary Stories will compensate that but everything above 2M is fine to me.
