The two sellouts came from one theater and bolstered the sales today. The other theaters sold far less, but still better than yesterday. Let's see how the next couple days pan out.

Lockdown has been extended through Sunday so all the presales are useless now 😢

wonder what share of business will be traditional walk-up business vs. advance purchase, would think it will be quite low.

Was at the mall today and the theater there (one of the few in this whole area that reopened this weekend) didn't even have the front box office open. Guessing most theaters are encouraging online purchasing only and any refunds/exchanges will be done via the phone to keep physical contact to a minimum.

The Mutant Power.

Just for old time sakes, how will say 50 sold seats compare with your old data.

May be add Unhinged comp? Seems much better than Unhinged T-4 days. Guess $1.5-2mn Thursday previews are possible.

new zealand has lockdown only in 1 city right ?

Yeah but it’s the biggest city (about a third of the population) and has close to half of the Cinemas in the country so it’s a pretty big loss for Tenet Opening Weekend here. Although we are a very small market in scheme of things so won’t be too impactful.

Like I said, I feel it's unfair to use comps from pre-Roni, because capacity limits and closures in major markets like NYC/LA make it hard to really judge what a movie is truly doing.

I'm also not using Unhinged because it didn't have Thursday previews. Thursday previews and Friday openings are two completely different beasts, especially when it comes to showtimes that i feel it would also be unwise and unfair to compare the two. Sorry.

Not sure if there is limits to how many tickets it can sell. But MTC1 should double while MTC2 could triple by the showtime.

its Day 1 PS was fantastic but since then its just coasting along. One should not forget these are just early access shows. While the show count is not trivial, is it the widest possible release a big movie can have. I dont know until its shows for next thursday are listed. Obviously there are huge challenges in limited seats that Plexes can sell (25 is a max in PA for example). So bunch of shows are listed as sellouts despite selling not that much. So it needs 2x bigger release than norm to have good numbers.

but these early access shows will provide WOM boost. So we have to wait and watch how the audience reaction is and then take it from there.

Still its BO will be a story of what it could have been in a COVID free world. I guess we will put a asterix on every movie until plexes can fill up their screens/theaters. i dont see that happening for a long time.
