Really depends on what you're looking for, but usually the most important takeaway for just a casual glance is the comp.  More on that in a bit.   But even that is highly dependent on a movie being either in a similar genre or having a similar pre-sale pattern as folks will buy tickets at different times during a pre-sale window thanks to a very long list of factors.   Add in that movies will have different promotional schedules during their pre-sales (review embargoes, TV ca

Jigsaw is respectable. 50 tickets behind HDD but I do live in a college area so naturally HDD is gonna do better.

 

TYFYS is tied with Only the Brave = another middle American film failure.

 

Suburbicon isn't doing well but I am not so surprised.

Nah, this might get a full out F thanks to the mismarketing. The Snowman at least managed to start around 50%.

Lots of of awards contenders are straight bombing: Stronger, Battle of Sexes, Mother and Breathe

Once the reviews for Suburbicon came out, it was pretty much doomed.

 

These movies had it rough but that's what happens when you open in the thick of awards season and don't really have major Oscar buzz. Battle of the Sexes should've been a summer release where it would've served as counterprogramming, though mother! was obviously always gonna be a hard sell.

BOTS would have done really well in August, I saw it at the BFI Film Festival and thought it was great.
