2nd local (Regal) is up for Wed-Thurs set - gonna list the Thurs previews (and who they swipe from)...

NEW

Jumanji (1 - split 2d/3d - 4 total shows)

Greatest Showman (1 - 5 total shows)

Darkest Hour (2 preview showings Thurs) - selling this on Friday on a full screen

Father Figures (2 preview showings Thurs) - not selling this Friday yet (so may be seeing a possible showing decrease, but it will get some sort of screen)

Returning

Star Wars (4 - 21 total showings)

Ferdinand (1)

Disaster Artist (1)

Coco (1)

Wonder (1) - loses 2 showings Thurs for previews

Thor (1) - loses 2 showings Thurs for previews

JL and Daddy's Home gone (not a surprise b/c these 2 got single showings on the weekend to up Star Wars shows for the whole weekend)...with Wonder and Thor losing the showings for Thursday, it's likely one or both are dumped or they get split-screened or single showings for the weekend...

This adds up to 11, but I think they are holding a screen for anything selling well of all the new openers - I'd expect Jumanji, since it only has 4 showings and that seems really light...

So, here's this local's Friday set

NEW

Darkest Hour (1)

Father Figures (1)

Pitch Perfect 3 (1)

The Shape of Water (.5 - 3 showings)

Returning

Jumanji (1)

The Greatest Showman (1)

Ferdinand (1)

Star Wars (3.5 - a drop from the "official total" - 21 weekday showings now reduced to 18 - 7 3d/11 2d)

Coco (.75 - 4 showings)

Thor (.25 - 1 showing) - it shares Coco's screen

1 screen is open to be slotted as needed...Wonder and Disaster Artist gone (and Thor/Coco split and TLJ reduced) to fit the new openers for Friday...holdovers will get obliterated this weekend, even with the huge available audiences (except Ferdinand, since it's got the same showings so far everywhere...but when you start small, easy to stay small)...

EDIT: I am amused my 2 locals each picked a super to give a single night show (and picked different ones)...no matter what, seems like you want a super around if at all possible...and they gave the audience options by having Thor at one and JL at the other (you almost think they check each other's schedules:)...

I was looking to see if one of my theaters had updated their schedule for Christmas Day yet, but something I noticed while doing it was that The Post is actually coming to my 22-screen theater on January 5. I guess this movie will stay in 9 for the first two weeks, then see a slight expansion to the metropolitan areas/big multiplexes on Week 3, then nationwide on MLK weekend.

I wouldn't be surprised if they go the same route as Zero Dark Thirty. That opened in 5 theaters on Christmas weekend, then expanded to 60 the first weekend of the new year ahead of its nationwide launch the week after in its fourth weekend overall.

Previews tonight:

7:00 PP3: 27/78 (holy shit this one filled up quick; it only sold a few as of yesterday afternoon  )

7:00 Downsizing: 3/69

9:30 PP3: 11/78

10:15 Downsizing: 0/69

Father Figures has sold nothing yet.

Pitch Perfect's total for tonight is ahead of HDD's final total (32 tickets/31.2M OW at the current pace), on par with Jigsaw's final total, almost what AM and THB finished with (40 and 41 tickets respectively)

Hard to get a grasp on Downsizing right now. We'll see how much it fills up. On the bright side, it shouldn't be towards the lowest previews of the year (Big Sick/T23D/Suburbicon with 4 tickets and BOTS/Friend Request with none).
