I have been posting these for a few days around the same time, it is interesting to see them change during the day. Solo does much better than D2 in the morning and afternoon:

It is hard to know how to use these numbers to get actual box office predictions, you would have to add it all up then adjust for genre/release date... A lot of work if someone feels so inclined. But it seems D2 is doing relatively well today.

 

 

 

 

 

Considering that Deadpool 2 also saw an increase on MT, I'm going to assume that it has to do with it being discount Tuesday. Last week Deadpool 2 also had a really good Tuesday. It was actually one of its only good days throughout its run 

 

Or maybe Solo is decreasing this Tuesday as it's a new release. I mean it was gonna decrease either way since Monday was Memorial Day but it maybe it's decreasing a little bit more because it's also a new release lol

Now, 1.5 screens are still around - I expect foreign films to grab them, but we'll see as the week goes...

 

EDIT: And for Thursday, the theater has now set 9 showings (almost doubling their 1st set, as expected...actually I expected more, and it still could get more, but I doubt it for now) - 2 3d/7 2d - this is their final set.  Not amazing, either, but not awful...it's in the normal supers (ie - not AIW) range...

Well, 1st local (Cinemark) is set...and it HAS decided to pick up BOTH Action Point and Adrift, even though it was not preselling any tickets to either til it booked them tonight...it has also decided on 3 new foreign films...I guess holdovers outside of the big 3 were atrocious, b/c they LITERALLY have none booked:)...and they are looking to make any money they can for the next 2 weeks...here's the insane set for the 12 this week...

Solo (3.5) - 17 showings - 3 3d/14 2d (loses 1/2 screen from last week)

PS - 1/2 screen is still open - there will probably be one more foreign film getting booked...

And Thursday set for Solo is only 6 shows (1 more than it was before) - this is the shocker to me - it's got 1 fan show, 3 2d, and 2 3d at this point, so it's added almost nothing more...and it's Tuesday night...I gotta think they are gonna find more, but maybe not...if this doesn't get to 9-10 showings, min, at this theater (which is ideal for this type of movie), that's a bad sign...

 

 

2nd local (Regal) is set and it has followed the path of the 1st 12.  It has booked THREE new movies, (Action Point, Adrift, and Upgrade) even though it presold none of them til this morning. Holdovers also got killed here - here's the set...

Solo (2.4) 12 showings (6 3d/ 6 2d) - this is SUCH a bad sign for legs b/c this theater sells this demo, and is choosing to drop 1.6 screens by the 2nd weekend (1 on Tuesday and now .6 for Friday) for the new movies - another interesting this is that there is single 3d show in a tiny theater after 10pm...all other shows end at 8pm for this movie, so it's obviously dying at night like TLJ

Book Club (1)

Deadpool (1.6) 9 showings

Showdogs (.5) 3 showings - double screens at noon (one of Solo's shows) and then a 3pm

Life of the Party (.5) 3 showings - takes the rest of Showdogs screen 

A:IW (2) 8 showings - it actually has more showings (by 1) than last weekend - that tells you really all you need to know about legs of all the current movies...

Interestingly, there is a full screen not booked.  This theater never books foreign films, so I think they are saving the screen to see what movie (of the new ones) might break out or which of the 3 "big" holdovers is gonna need them this weekend...

Will any new opener manage to overcome The Book Club in advanced sales for this upcoming weekend, or will presales start for an epic tentpole weeks away and take over the #4 or #5 spot?

My theatre is FINALLY doing something smart with one of their big blockbusters (JW in this case). Because, if a movie is playing on more than one screen, the studio requires that the bigger screen(s) be reserved for the 3D shows for up to the first 2 weeks. What I could never understand that the manager would do was schedule the 3D show first (at say 6:45) and then the 2D at say 7:20. Because the 2D almost always sells out and then some.

 

But with JW2, at least now 2D show is first, so once that sells out, at least people have the option for 3D rather than being turned away

Considering the time and how pre-sales crazy / planned the star wars franchise is, I think it is possibly showing how the sign were there for Solo to underperform relative to the other entry big time not even doubling a JW pre-sales opening in the morning (or JW will be a giant opener again)

Even though Fallen Kingdom is a sequel, it shoudnt actually be that presale-heavy (atleast nowhere near as big as Marvel/DC/Star Wars), since Jurassic Park movies are the definition of walk-up blockbusters. Which also means, any news about very good presales are even better news for JW as for something like Solo.
