Apparently the prod. budget on this thing is 40m. LOL! What the hell?! A movie like this should be been made for much less. Did McCarthy get half of that?

Maybe outside lot of other non-CA qualified cost, below the line cost in California were around 18.5m gross 16m net:

Melissa is doing zero promo for this so at least she was smart in taking the paycheck and running. This movie's existence will be pretty much forgotten by the time Can You Ever Forgive Me? opens anyway.

In a strange twist, Can You Ever Forgive Me? is actually about Melissa McCarthy dealing with reviews for this.

This movie's gonna be Melissa's All About Steve to CYEFM's Blind Side. Guess Life of the Party is her Proposal, except it didn't make any money.

Not with the crap movies she makes. I know she has that drama coming up but still, oscars dont really reward talent anymore, i mean jennifer hudson, penelope cruz and sandra bullock have oscars LOL

Odd...knowing his father's legacy, the son makes an R-rated, raunchy...maybe theres some ulterior motive (money) I'm not aware of, who knows.

If my father was Jim Henson, would I have risked that legacy, with something like this? No. The farthest I would have gone is PG-13.

The Hensons have never been able to really crack making their work for adults. They've tried for years. Only their titles for families seem to work, or in the case of Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, become cult hits.

This might be a sign.

I mean, the concept itself always sounded like twisted fun. The popularity of Avenue Q - which is in a different medium, yeah, but still - suggests that an audience for raunchy puppets exists. I guess the execution just isn't there at all in this case.

I'll still see it, but I'm going in with reeeeaallllyyyy low expectations.

Yea this really did sorta suck. Maybe it's cause it looked like there could be so much potential, but a lot of the movie just fell flat. Some funny parts, but not enough. And it definitely wasn't as raunchy as the previews made it out to be.

I was shocked when this got rated only 14A in BC, which is the same rating as something like Meg or World War Z. And obviously other than the silly string stuff from the trailer, and references to pornography, there's no reason why it would have deserved an 18A anyways. Way more tame than Sausage Party.
