Yeah, I mean, sure. Really stretching it now. Just like Jungle Book the March before, folks were jazzed to see live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. Same will apply to Dumbo and Lion King as well.

Lion King isn't going to be live action.

THR going with 50-55 for Apes off 18 million.  Just no chance in hell it breaks 50 with only 18 (13 true Friday).

Spider-Man & Apes going to be a close race around 47-48. (at this point)

Some did try to make some break down in movie popularity by US regions:

It is not using actual box office (would imagine you need some access to more precise data), but youtube views, they match well enough facebook mention methodology movies too:

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/02/24/movies/oscars-state-by-state-movie-popularity.html

Some surprise in there, La la land was very popular in southern California obviously but after that it was Utah/Idaho/Wisconsin were the movie was more popular by capita.

But then again, cities like Salt Lake City, Boise and Milwaukee, the cities the most money comes from in those states, are heavity democratic voting. And this is my point.

To be honest, Belle is kind of a heroine her own way. Just like Diana Prince, fighting for love and justice.

Batman fights for family and love.

I still think the Lion King remake is a stupid idea because it's not live-action. It's gonna be completely CGI due to no human characters, so why call it "live-action"? Something like Aladdin or Little Mermaid makes a lot more sense to remake (I'm actually really excited for both of them), but Lion King? Come on.

$13m is just too damn low. Didn't it have an Atom and T Mobile deal?

Both - can you imagine the numbers if it didn't?:)

But in good news, those folks may have bought for Sat/Sun (not Thurs/Fri), so all is not lost...yet...

To be fair, it's $18M+, but you're right. $18M would only be about a $45M OW.

Article is from around the same time Deadline's first report came out.

Less than Rise's OD would be abysmal.

And Rises did it with midnight previews (1.25 million)

Dawn starting at 10pm did 4.1m

Fridays BO:

Rises: 18.25

Dawn :23.545

War: would be 13m....

Could it be a misunderstanding and that the 18m figure would be for just friday and not the first 2 days ? (closer to a 23m OD like Dawn ?)
