I've embarked on a Paul Schrader-a-thon and already I'll be hugely impressed if I see a better movie from him than Blue Collar. Up there with the all-time great directorial debuts. One of the sharpest and rawest social-issue dramas I've seen, and Pryor, Keitel and Kotto are all good as hell in it.

The end of Sharp Objects was a bit too trashy. Much like Big Little Lies, if this was a movie instead, it probably wouldn't be well reviewed. Maybe having the book stretched out into several episodes makes the resolution more forgivable because the growing tension and mystery turns them into very good little standalone films.

 

I think something like The Girl On The Train would have also done much better critically if it was a miniseries as well, especially with that cast.
