4-day Weekend Thread: 5-day numbers per BOM - TLJ 99.0M, J:WTTJ 55.4M, PP3 26.4M, TGS 14.4M, F 10.1M, C 8.2M, D 7.7M and an incredible $5,480,000 for Father Figures

I just realized how funny it is what I'm doing today. I've been posting here about the box office, numbers, percentage declines, projections, etc. Meanwhile, I'm doing the company's contractor pay accounting for 2017, figuring out who was paid how much by check, by PayPal, and then in total so I can get the 1099 forms ready for anyone who made $600 or more. Basically, a bunch of boring number crunching that I absolutely hate, but part of small business. So for pleasure, I'm here discussing box office, while I'm working on more numbers. I guess it's just that kind of day.

I'm seeing The Florida Project on a lot of Critics Top 10 lists, not that I tend to agree with them, but anyone have thoughts on that one? I got sent the screener, thinking I should watch that this weekend.

I'm patiently awaiting @EmpireCity to storm in with a 'subtle' "I told you so" to all those nay-sayers! I'll admit, I don't often post, but I read every email I receive, and I've gotta say I've learnt to like Empire's, sometimes rude, but majoritvely insightful.

I feel like I've genuinely learnt a lot over these weekdays, half of which I suspected to be true anyway, but Empire cemented these suspicions. Allowing me to predict and follow the box office more closely :)

So I just want to personally thank you. I know it's been a rough week educating, but you've done a terrific job! :bravo:

(Also Rth has been quieter, but still immensely useful and appreciated as always!)

$60,553,189      $37,679,172     $51,331,888       1.36        0.85
$40,109,742      $17,596,150     $21,556,373       1.23        0.54
$37,361,729      $17,582,978     $20,254,189       1.15        0.54

$49,325,663      $22,860,256     $28,300,000       1.24        0.57

The average TLJ/RO ratio so far is 1.25, which translates into $665m for TLJ.

The average TLJ/TFA ratie so far is 0.68, which translates into $636m for TLJ.

That looks like a good range for TLJ.

BTW, the average RO/TFA ratio on the chart is 0.53 which gives $496m for RO. It's in line with RO having better multiplier than TFA.

The Greatest Showman is an enjoyable flick. It has a great soundtrack and very good first 40 minutes, but as the movie gets deeper into the second act, it's clear there's too much being juggled. Unfortunately, your girl Rebecca Ferguson is one of them @Alli. She has a great song, though!

Oh, and I had some interesting trailer reactions at my showing (a quiet audience throughout the movie though). The audience was evenly split between teens and seniors, and the seniors loved the trailers for Sherlock Gnomes and Peter Rabbit while they despised the trailer for Love, Simon. The teens were the exact opposite  Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again unified the audience positively at least!

That’s an insane hold for Coco. Damn thing could stay in the top 5 for the holidays.

It's incredible. The same # as Moana's 5th Friday coming off a 5th Thursday that was only half of Moana. I'm going to be giddy with glee if it's about to turn into a mini Frozen. Saw it a second time recently and I realized it may have broken into the top 10 of my favorite animated movies of all time.

I checked on a 6:35pm show with reserved seating at my nearby theatre. It was nearly sold out - a small auditorium, granted, but it easily did more than Downsizing and Father Figures.

It’s an amazing movie, I agree. I absolutely love it. Its hard for me to say where it ranks among Pixar movies because I love so many of them. Some of my top ones are Inside Out, Wall E, and The Incredibles but I love all 3 Toy Story films. Does Coco knock any of those off for me? Boy, tough to say. I have trouble ranking movies when they’re in the A+ range for me.

That cameo at the end of the new Mamma Mia trailer drew some applause. It will be interesting if that impacts the film’s gross. Probably not but it surely won’t hurt the film.

Only $28 million? That's nothing compared to TFA's $49 million.

Now its getting annoying. TFA 2nd Friday was Christmas Day, one of the biggest moviegoing days in the US. I swear, how often do we have to use the words "look at the calendar"??

If TLJ goes the way of PoH, we're looking at:

$29.9M Friday

$35.4M Saturday

$17.4M Sunday

$82.7M weekend

Based on the estimated $28.3M figure for today:

$28.3M Friday

$33.5M Saturday

$16.5M Sunday

$78.3M weekend

Is somewhere in that range realistic?
