BLACK PANTHER WEEKEND THREAD | Current Estimates - 202.4M 3-day / 242.6M 4-day | Record 40.167 Monday; more than TFA!

Recommended Posts

Boxoffice.com just posted that the actual figure for Monday is $40,2 breaking the monday record. Total is $241,9 so the OW was $201,7. I can't believe that Black Panther breaks Star Wars record. One of the most impresive achievements in recent years.

Fandango Ticket Sales Rep More Than 30% Of ‘Black Panther’s $242M Record Opening Weekend

Within the first 24 hours of Black Panther tickets going on sale on Jan. 9 –well before the pic hit tracking– Fandango observed that the Disney/Marvel release was beating the advance ticket purchases of summer hit Captain America: Civil War at the same point in time ($179.1M opening). At the time, box office analysts were cautious to comp T’Challa that high. They couldn’t believe it. Initial tracking four weeks prior to the pic’s release indicated $120M-plus, and week after week, Black Panther exploded from there.

Fools

The signs, the signs were there! :P

This is going to pass Avatar and has a shot at TFA. Just wait and watch.

TFA is about to flex a ton of muscle from this Tuesday all the way through the 3rd Sunday. TFA's Wednesday gross could be $20m ahead of Black Panther's Wednesday just for some perspective. That's with Black Panther at $18m, which is already $4.4m above Avengers' first Wednesday.

True. Being released during the holidays makes that a given.

WW Fast is up there. But nothing is gonna top star wars, imo.

lol....please. Star wars is a dwindling franchise...TFA to TLJ..the drop is just hilarious. Also, let me remind you how badly star wars does in 2 biggest countries of the world. Treated like a Z rate franchise.

We'll see when Solo and IX come out lol. SW has never had the amount of output that Marvel has had these last 10 years.

Was Marvel a "dwindling franchise" after AGE OF ULTRON? Exactly. I know you're high on Black Panther's success at the moment but let's refrain from statements like this, shall we?

TLJ was a misstep maybe. But so where the prequels to a lot of people. But people will still show up to see the movies regardless. Even if it dropped off TLJ still grossed over 600m in the US alone.
