Statements like this are stupid... they put plenty of time and effort into the film - no studio sets out to make a critical dumpster fire or flop.... Their biggest mistakes were 1) choosing a property that wasn't exactly filmable to begin with and then neutering the best parts and 2) giving the directing reigns to someone with no experience in high CGI-Fantasy and letting it go. One could argue that choosing Oprah as part of the cast was a mistake as well, but I haven't watched the film so I am not sure.
