Iron Man 2 Par. $133,600,000 $128,122,480 $-5,477,520 -4.1%

For some it might be interesting to know or pointed out or ... its ~ 10y back:

In regards to Disney over average underestimation of OWs

6 of those were not released with Disney as distributor.

Universal's was underestimated, Sony on spot.

But all 4 Paramounts were overestimated

7.4x the previews compared to 7.6x for SMH.

If the ratio of their final multipliers is the same as (7.4/7.6) then CM will do 2.79x compared to 2.86x of SMH for 428 dom.

Ummm, not sure these movies' audiences, outside of the MCU fanbase, have that much in common...nor does the season they released in:)...SMH had a way younger breakdown on opening weekend, which leads to much better legs, usually...

"There was always the notion that this Spider-Man would skew younger and ComScore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak supports that showing 43% under 18 in updated audience polls. Since Friday, the under 25 crowd swelled with females moving from 18% to 22%, the third best demo for Homecoming after guys under 25 (35%), men over 25 (24%) and ahead of women 25+ (19%)."  https://deadline.com/2017/07/spider-man-homecoming-box-office-opening-1202124834/

Notice, the top demo for Spidey OW was guys under 25 (by a mile), while the top demo for CM was guys over 25...and SMH skewed 57% under 25...in the summer when all those folks were out of school...

So technically Captain Marvel has the biggest opening weekend for an intro/origin film for a superhero ever, correct? Black Panther is an origin film but technically he had a big introduction in CA:CW.

And BP is already full-on super hero when the movie start ?

Probably normal just such a drastic change from Saturday. Black panther barely even dropped. Infinity war dropped 15.7%,  Antman and the Wasp dropped 21.3% with a much weaker opening.

Thor 3: 27.4%

Spiderman HC: 21.2% again a lot smaller open

Gotg3: 23.7% with a smaller opening

If it was 40.0 it wouldn't look that big despite that really being a relatively insignificant difference.

SMH is not a good comparison, because it was released in summer.  Looking at other Spring MCU releases, CM's Sunday drop is very normal, if not good.

GOTG2: -23.7%

Captain Marvel: -26.5%

Thor: -27.6%

Iron Man: -30.3%

Civil War: -30.7%

Iron Man 3: -30.9%

Iron Man 2: -32%

The Winter Soldier: -32.4%

Honestly, I don't see much of a correlation.  The Winter Soldier has decent legs and GOTG2 didn't have an exceptional multi.  Meanwhile all the Avengers movies have crazy low Sunday drops due just how big the OW is.

Damn, Spidey was a beast. Nearly 70 million tickets before all the superhero craze.

well i saw most people say around 40 so really not that far off

I thought Sunday would be around 40.8 but I think this is headed for well over $400M domestic.   It had about the same opening weekend as Hunger Games and while it may lose a little on the back end,   Captain Marvel will make up that ground with a bigger second weekend I feel.

I don't see this dropping 61% like Hunger Games did.

This is what they said about wonder woman, and it is true, but not here.

The whole theme might have been what is being said here but the execution focuses on how Carol has always been looked down on/ pushed down by men, from which she has stood up again and again.

That is also applicable to her best friend, they both persevered to fly despite limitation and inequality. Women in the film has endurance and thats what saves the day.

Also of note, in terms of other recent similar March releases, CM's Sunday drop is pretty standard:

BATB: 23%

Logan: 23.1%

Power Rangers: 26.1%

Captain Marvel: 26.5%

Ready Player One: 28.5%

Kong: 28.8%

PacRim 2: 31.8%

Tomb Raider: 31.9%

BvS: 33.3%

While there are plenty of potential factors to CM potentially garnering mediocre legs, Sunday drops are by far the least of its worries.

I disagree. Yes, they are right in that "she saved the day and happened to be a woman" but they seem to be forgetting that Wonder Woman did that as well, and much more effectively I'd say.

Case in point, the scene where Pine says "this is no man's land, means that no man can cross it" Diana could have easily said "but I am not a man" but instead it went for the much more subtle and effective "so what we do nothing? … no but it's what I'm going to do" followed by one of the most inspiring scenes in any comic book movie ever.

I disagree with him about that, but it is his opinion; I definitely would not unsubscribe from his YT over that. Like I said, I just wish some people could simply take a more balanced approach to others' opinions. It's not that big of a deal if someone else dislikes what you like. In any case, at this point it's all part of the package when it comes to fandoms and, heck, with people in general I guess. Not everyone will love what one does, and not everyone will react to that fairly and maturely.

Unsubbing his channel because he has a different opinion about one movie? I mean if you like a person's content, but his opinion on one movie makes you unsub his channel, that's an otherworldly type of reaction.

For me he is off my from-time-to-time watch list (was already on a maybe status) because he thinks he can see per how someone moves if someone is a fighter / able in RL and per a trailer judges if the person is capable. If not... bad. Said ~ not to be able to enjoy a SH movie if he cant see that

Lets say I consider him rather very limited in that ability and think he has some bias not only against females, especially if its about fighting power.

He said things like that as intro to reaction to a pre release CM TV-clip, but as said, he was already on my hmmm, some things he says are borderline list.

I've too often encountred in RL the exact same condescending tone... (I literally mean the sound), hmmm maybe he is one of the few body builders who miss other reasons for being able? 😉

There are some YouTubers I have researched out of curiosity how many videos they made about CM and it’s really staggering to see over 30 videos in a month or two in one channel just talking about how much they hate the movie and all the conspiracy theories they can conjure up. Geek + Gamers comes to mind.

Geek + Gamers did few days more or less non-stop incl live feed. A few days before release I searched for CM per newest, several on the 1st page were from him. Every time I looked, the next couple of vids. I did not add to the watch count, but the stills used as vid-pic were outright lies and worse. I think its the one that want people to give him money per P.... something too So he earns oney per clicks (a lot) and people paying him too.

You can't really tell whether they pursue this because of their own interest or it's those views they are after, either way they are pathetic.
