Be careful with the word "lock".

Some people seem to be very triggered by that word lately! :P

A certain recent release was locked to beat Episode 7 domestic and Avatar worldwide ....:ty:

BOT is always the most fun when a film massively overperforms or when it massively underperforms. Aladdin certainly looks like the former when looking at the Derby, as only one player was within 5% for the three day weekend and nobody overpredicted it.

probably because the word is used incorrectly all the time on this board.

Yeah, but I think people also need to remember sometimes that this is a box office forum.

We aren't doing rocket science here, and our opinions really mean nothing outside of these forums.

We all need a reminder to collectively "chill" once in a while... myself included.

So some people use the word "locked" when they really mean "very likely".

Whatever.....

Avengers Endgame: Countdowns

Pass Avengers' Infinity War Domestic total $678,815,482-$0

Pass Avatar's Domestic total $760,507,625-$0

Pass Star Wars-Force Awakens' $936,662,225-$133,032,226

Pass Titanic Worldwide 2,187,463,944-$0

Pass Avatar's Worldwide total $2,787,965,087-$105,137,813

Pass Avatar's OS total $2,027,457,462-$148,157,462

Pass Avatar's in South Korea Admissions 13,624,3280

Pass 80M USD in Brazil-$0

Pass 100M in Local Currency AustraliaAUD 18.03M

Pass 100M GBP in UK-£12.5M

Pass $500M in China(First Hollywood movie)- $0

Very good hold for the weekend. 845-850M is likely and if it develop any late legs could push towards 860M. Os hold wasn't particularly good but it has done so much so fast that holds weren't going to be great. A little over 100M away from Avatar WW, right now it looks likely to finish within 15-20M of Avatar. Disney could do small re-release which would be enough to take WW crown but we will see how things play out.

EG did dethrone Avatar in SK. Beating the admissions record that it has held for Hollywood movies for nearly 10 years. EG should finish with 14M+ admissions. Phenomenal performance and legs weren't bad either.

Another shout out to Brazil, it's total is up to $81.6M and admissions are over 19M+ both are records. Mexico with $75.6M and 23M+ admissions, former is the record holder and latter is about to surpass the all-time record admissions set by Coco. Fantastic performance!!!

Is it really fair to call Aladdin a non-sequel though considering it is just a remake? When i think of non-sequels, i perfer to think of original stuff.

I honestly think that once the actuals for both Dom and OS are in tomorrow, people will realize that the overreaction about Endgame not topping Avatar without a re-release will be proven exaggerated. I don’t see KOTM affecting Endgame as much as people seem to think here, both Dom and OS.

Monday drop for Aladdin could end up closer to 20% than the current 25% estimate and it's 4-day (currently 112.7) could beat Dumbo's entire 113 cume!

Didn't see that coming.
