People endlessly complain that Marvel constrains it's directors too much but then immediately complain when said directors get to do what they want?

Are people complaining about too much Waititi in here?

I've only skimmed the reivews, but is that the actual complaint here?

People complained about things with Eternals, Strange, and now Love and Thunder about specific things that the directors do a lot in their other films.

74% score with 7.0/10 average rating? I can tell a small group of passionate positive.

That would be Collider. They said the movie wasn't perfect in their review, and then gave it a perfect 100 score on Meta Critics.

It's all about the final product. Phase 4 has tried to be more creative but the excution is what matters and in general it's been lacking.

I haven't seen any of them but audience reception felt in line with critics for the first two.

I don't think anyone can claim critics are hard on MCU films generally. They treat them as the entertainment products they are.

Just because directors have more "freedom" does not automatically mean the movie is inherently good or better. And frankly, while I liked Strange 2, the big issue with that movie, is that I wish Raimi had more freedom and a chance to have more of an auteur vision with the title.

I mean are critics supposed to say the movie is good if they didn't think it was simply cause a director got more freedom? Ultimately the end product is what matters not how you get there
