The Times/Sunday Times review is 4 out of 5 stars, with Comer unsurprisingly getting singled out for her performance. She's referred to as the "beating heart" of the movie.

Yeah, reactions are in line with non-press reactions from Venice and positive press reviews. Entertaining, Comer a standout, 3 POV interesting, money shot duel delivers, great acting overall, etc.

So far audience reactions are pretty great so it looks like Fox dropped the ball with this movie as far as release date with Venom 2 and HK and late marketing go.

This is the type of movie that would do pretty well in my market. But it's unconfirmed if it will even play here, since there is still limited capacity in Canadian theaters, and a lot of locations here aren't sure if they can carry this on enough screen space given their commitments to Venom, Bond, and Dune (and to a lesser extent, Halloween).

It really should've moved to September.  October is too crowded and I don't think the BO has recovered from COVID to handle that many big movies at the same time.

This! I don't know why they didn't but the month proved lucrative in terms of legs for many movies. I'm sure this would have done better too. Even November cleared out a week or two but Oct 15 is seriously the worst spot for a movie without built in fandom. It's surrounded by franchises.

Studios have never been self-aware about competition. Even pre-COVID they made stupid, stupid scheduling decisions.

Not only there are too many films in Oct, but they all seem target the same demo. Even by pent-up demand, this seem too much, wish they somehow coexist well.

Yep. Darn shame many chickened out of September cause it proved very lucrative for a few movies that took the risk.  If they spread the wealth, everyone would have a chance.

 

I have no doubt that, sadly, an original IP like this movie will be lost in the shuffle. Too many movies with built-in fandom that fans will prioritize even if they want to see this one too.

These reactions read very different to me than how the trailer made the move appear, which was, you know, pretty grim and rape-y.  Not my cup of tea, Adam Driver's pants notwithstanding.

I want to say Empire recently confirmed that's the plan. They were talking to Scott about how he manages doing films back to back and he brought up that the next plan was to shoot Kitbag and go straight into Gladiator 2 which is being scripted now.
