Weekend Thread - Good Boys 21.4m OW, other openers not worth mentioning

That seems like a heavy indictment of gender roles in our society.

Well, this one seemed much raunchier.  Who really knows why one movie succeeds and the other doesn't.  Seth Rogen is both celebrating and crying as well.  He produced Good Boys and starred in Long Shot.  GB's is going to kill LS too.

Sad to see a movie spewing toxic masculinity and teaching boys to be profane and annoying doing so well. I thought we were past promoting this type of behaviour after The Hangover.

So you didn’t see the movie, cool.

So Angry Birds joins LEGO and SLOP as 2019 CGI sequels that made less than half of their predecessors.

And all starred Tiffany Haddish.

Huh.

Plus, Tiffany Haddish had the Netflix animated series Tuca & Bertie that got cancelled after the first season due to low viewership. She deserves much better.

And she was in The Kitchen, which is gonna join the likes of Jonah Hex and Sin City 2 among the lowest grossing movies based on funny books. Shame she hasn't found the right vehicle to capitalize on her breakthrough in Girls Trip.

Haddish had Night School last year and is on The Last O.G., which has been renewed for a third season, hits at least. Looking over her filmography, she's worked a lot since Girls Trip. After being under the radar for years it must be a major adjustment to get offered so many roles-you would worry it could all go away like that. She might feel she doesn't have the luxury to be selective, but too many flops and the offers start to dwindle.

Update #4: So Far From Home is falling behind in dallies compared to Homecoming, looks like the slew of wide releases over the past two weeks affected it. But not to fret, a re-expansion on Labor Day looks to be on its way!

I'm all for Far From Home to hit 400 million, but I do hope this doesn't set a trend of Marvel movies (yes, I know Spider-Man is Sony and Endgame was Disney, but still) to be released with additional content so soon after the original theatrical cut

Have you seen the movie? Cause that's definitely not in the movie lol

Yeah, Disney Springs realized they screwed up, cancelled an Aladdin and a OUATIH to add two more showings of Good Boys tonight.

they booked GB in an 80 seat theater, everything else in 130+ seat theaters, except Angry Birds, which got a 130 AND the giant 500+ seat auditorium.

With 12.4 weekend (Deadline) and 132 cume, 2x more will give HS 132 + 24.8 = 156.8 dom

Hopefully 155 is the bottom while it can make it to 165.

160m finish would be quite good for the spin off, legs have been decent enough too. Any word on China?
