That was just an unintended by-product of the de-ageing effects...

😁no Pesci is just a legend

(the de-ageing did take a toll on De Niro's perf tho, poor guy looked like a distraught cyborg for half the film, the drawback of casting a 70 years old italian to portray a 35 years old irish guy. But he redeems himself in the end)

Have to laugh at studio executives 25+ years ago saying that female-driven films were "needle in the eye" movies. How the times have changed, especially looking at some of the tentpoles expected to dominate the box office this year (which are also being directed by women).

I laughed REALLY hard at the "as long as they're in fucking space" comment.

The Academy doesn't need to do anything because this fake issue is media/twitter driven. There really isn't a problem with the process or the categories.

If there is an issue, it's with the voters doing the nominating who CHOSE not to vote in enough numbers for Awkwafina, Lupita, Gerwig (as if she was one of the top 5 anyway) or anyone else that was fake snubbed. Whine about the voters or better yet don't. In about 20 years or less you will see a consistent diverse list of nominees as the old voters/old hollywood will have perished by that time.

Great Gerwig has so far made 3 movies, one of which she recieved a nomination for best director. She missed out this year and the media are having a field day. Its not sexism for crying out load, she doesn't need to be nominated any time her movie gets 90% on RT. Christopher Nolan has made better movies, more movies and shares the same number of nominations. The media need to stop with these accusations, its pathetic

People are snubbed every year regardless of the colour of their skin or gender. You could argue Rian Johnson was snubbed harder than Greta but you wont see that in click bait media articles

Now that Best Picture looks like a showdown between 1917 and Parasite, I would lowkey kind of love for Joker to swoop in and take it. Part of Twitter would be gnashing their teeth and burning everything to the ground while the other would be SO confused by what Bradley Cooper has to do with anything...

On the other hand, Parasite winning would likely have the "this is AMERICA, speak English or GTFO" brigade showing up in full force to show off their intolerance without shame as the cast and crew speak on stage in Korean followed by their translator (from interviews/appearances it seems like only the actor who plays the son is really fluent in English).

Netflix won 4 Oscars last year (3 for Roma and 1 for a short).

this year despite having way more nominations (24 this year vs 15 last year) it seems like Netflix will do worse in terms of wins.

the only locked win is Laura Dern for Marriage Story in supporting actress,

the possible but not likely wins are:

Irishman for adapted screenplay & VFX.

American Factory for best docu feature

possibly one of the shorts?
