Pretty much ride or die with:

  • Rian Johnson - Best Original Screenplay
  • Alan Silvestri - Best Original Score (though I could totally see him getting screwed by John Williams for Star Wars as Williams' Swan Song.)
  • Costumes - Knives Out
  • Costumes - Judy
  • Hair and Make up - Judy
  • Production Design - Knives Out
  • (I'm Gonna) Love Me Again [Rocketman] - Best Song
  • Lopez, de Armas, and Awkwafina acting noms
  • and OBVI Renee's unstoppable march to Gold

Everything else

No Knives Out Best Picture nom? It's possible.

Honestly, all I personally care about is Knives Out getting a Best Picture and Screenplay nom, Booksmart getting Screenplay nom, Lopez and Robbie getting a Supp. Actress nom, and Glasgow getting an Original Song nom. Other than that, don't really care about any of the other films (Parasite and The Irishman are already getting a lot of love, I love OUATIH and Marriage Story but don't care about their Oscar prospects, Jojo Rabbit sucks, 1917 and Joker are meh, and I still haven't seen Little Women) .

I'm not holding my breath, so that wouldn't be enough to hit the UGH IDIOTS button the way the rest would.  Like, personally, Knives Out should be nominated for everything.  Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actor, Screenplay, Editing, Score, Production Design, HMU, Costumes.  Cause it was, you know, the second best film of the year.  But the Academy's not known for their taste.  It is what it is: a marketing tool for films to earn a boost at box office and ABC to sell ad-shares.  😘

Yeah, in a perfect world Knives Out wouldn't just be nominated for everything but win it all too. But I do think Knives Out can get a BP nom here if they go with 9 nominees this year. Original Screenplay nom (which I think is likely) would really help it. I'm guessing it being a breakout hit also helps it.

It’s unfortunate that there’s probably going to be a lot of drama over Tom Hanks’ almost inevitable nomination. The Internet hates the guy now.

Hanks is gonna get snubbed I think.
