92nd Academy Awards Discussion Thread | PARASITE WINS BITCHESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS #BONGHIVE

Considering it took 92 years for a foreign language film to win and an animated film never has - forcing films to choose from eligibility in a category where they have a chance and one where they have almost no chance is hardly fair.

Foreign films also are only eligible in their category if nominated by the country submitting them.

That will instantly kill the competition in best foreign language category when a film also up for the best picture.

Like Amour, Roma & Parasite, the film that compete with them in the foreign language category of that year has zero chance when it is making no sense not to give BP contender the Oscar of best foreign language film.

It's quite amazing how the Oscars and Emmys were dominated by two productions from outside the US - Parasite and Fleabag - which both felt like underdogs getting by on word-of-mouth until they upset the 'safe', revered filmmakers, actors, etc.

Didn't watch the show but just read the results. No surprises, as expected, but I can't really complain about any of the wins either.

Had a feeling they were finally going to let a foreign picture win.

Didn't watch the ceremony wasn't really interested.   But it's cool that Parasite won even though I fall into the it's "pretty good" instead of it's a "masterpiece" with it.

Seems to be the theme last couple of years. Pretty good films win the award last couple of years.

Shape of water, parasite, green book, moonlight.

The higher you are in the food-chain (pun intended given the oscar speech) and the social-wealth ladder, the higher wil be your proclivity to assess

platitudes & incoherent ramblings about the human condition.

Because you are free of all its hardships most of normal people still fight every single day for.

Exhibit A :

Joaquin Phoenix who won an Oscar for a film produced and financed by a non profit organization fighting for a better world called WarnerMedia/At&T, promoting one of the biggest brand in the world called DC/Batman/Joker.

Joaquin Phoenix, whose wife I see quite often in the streets of Paris, promoting a luxury brand perfume in TV commercials.

A Wife who is the daughter of one the wealthiest family in America.

Poor girl, what a terrilbe set of cards she s been dealt with.

Keep Fighting the Man

Joaquin & Rooney.

No Pasaran !

YouTubers who have either comic books or Funko pops behind them possess the worst kind of energy

The big issue is he has them sleeved so they are reflecting the light back into the camera. LOL.
