There's been tons of video game movies before and hell in 2018 Rampage a property who doesn't even touch the popularity of Pokemon this generation made damn near the same amount and wasn't you guys and damn near half the media saying how Detective Pikachu was gonna be a billion edit: Oh yeah I forgot about Warcraft Edited February 15, 2020 by iHeartJames

Pikachu did decently (unrealistic expectations prior notwithstanding) but it takes more than one movie for there to be a "video game movie crazy". With 1.75, 7-8 million is doable. Crazy considering that it’s already out on home video.

Solid for Fantasy Island, horror needed a $10m+ opener. And it’s budget was $7m. Will make a quick $25-30m and be profitable in ancillaries. 2

Because while the billion dollar predictions were silly 750m was possible if they didn't screw up. Keeping their slot the week after End Game was so stupid. They knew Infinity War did over 2B and at worst it would equal that. It underperformed by 150m in Asia and 300m WW from an optimal performance. I think 850 was peak. It did barely half that.

And you expected $450M worldwide for Jumanji3, does it mean that it is now the hit of the century? Pikachu did better than any video game movie ever in the US, so it is extremely strange to try and make it look like a failure just because Sonic is doing amazing. This level of analysis is why the Franchise War should still be open, because that is where it belongs.
narniadis
Birds of Prey getting under 50% would be a nice improvement. Very solid VD Friday for it. That Jumanji number though, omg I want to faint lol such good numbers we are spoiled tracking it.

Movies will decrease today For some yes, but that certainly isn't true for all movies. In 2014 when Valentine's Day also fell on a Friday, here were the Saturday holds. It's a mixed bag; Lego Movie +58% Robocop +21% About Last Night -38% Monuments Men +20% Endless Love -52% Frozen +42% The obvious date movies decreased, but even Robocop which was in it's first weekend increased from Valentine's Day. And family films clearly were not as effected.
