MovieMan89
I have no idea what the financial repercussions of it would be, but I do know if studios were to release their upcoming slate straight to streaming, the views would be through the roof. Who knows how much of the world will be on lockdown before long and people are going to be desperate for any kind of escapism amidst all this. The Disney+ views for something like Mulan for example would be stratospheric. But again, I don't know if that's the financially more viable route.

Assuming this happened, as a hypothetical, I don’t know if that would translate into any sort of positive numbers for Disney. The vast, vast majority of people eager for MULAN already subscribe to Disney+. (And I don’t think their system is set up for a la carte PPV rentals.)

kitik
So as of right now, it's seeming like James Bond might have been really smart to grab that November date before anyone else could.

Financial of those model are not counted by view, but by new or preserved account or ability to rise price, making it quite algorithmic/mathematics model evaluation. Other studio will often have a theatrical agreement (with a P&A budget-minimum theater count and so on) it with the co-production house (when Cloverfiled went to netflix for example, it had a battle between Elisson, the studio, etc..), the trial between Woody Allen and Amazon being a example of this. That part I imagine Disney will not have at least, because they pretty much do their movie by themselve.
