TheDude391
The Minus One comparisons and being used to criticize this film are gonna drive me up a wall seeing GxK in 3 hours 🫡
AniNate
Basically sounds like it's what's advertised. Fans will be into it but not gonna draw much of a peripheral audience.
JimmyB
Looks like alot of 5/10 and 6/10 reviews. Pretty fine for this type of movie.
marveldcfox
Like Rise of the beasts. I had fun with that movie, so this won't be any different.
HummingLemon496
29% top critics oof (But nobody cares, bad reviews aren't gonna affect presales for this lmao) Edited March 28 by HummingLemon496

They went in to a movie called Godzilla x Kong expecting the Godfather and get personally offended when it isn’t.

Maybe they were hoping for something like that 🙂 9
ThePhasmid
I still want a sequel to The Guest. Rebecca Hall would be an amazing addition to the cast as she's sort of an indie horror queen. Dan Stevens returning is a given. As for this film, it seems like another middle of the road fan service film. Convoluted by default. Nothing too offensive, but nothing that will be remembered outside of fans. Wingard operates better on leaner budgets.

AniNate
We have this same mind-numbing discourse every time a mid franchise tentpole comes out. If you don't think it's the kind of movie that's worthy of a 90% tomatometer, you shouldn't expect a 90% tomatometer.

Godzilla x Kong and Godzilla Minus One are both disaster movies, Fast and Furious and Mad Max are both spectacle blockbusters centered around vehicles. Just because peeps can be forgiving on certain films doesn't mean doing better shouldn't be demanded.

Maybe consider the possibility that the people who have actually seen this didn't think it as worthy of "forgiveness". Sure, ok, let me phrase it better: just because people are interested in dumb spectacle shouldn't mean something more shouldn't be delivered. I don't think we should always want "something more" to be delivered. There is nothing wrong with big dumb spectacle if that's what they're trying to make.

Did people stop wanting dumb fun because it was japanese? Yeah, I agree that you shouldn't expect to get Citizen Kane out of a disaster movie. But I sure as fuck don't think anyone is walking out of the theater upset if they do get Citizen Kane out of it, so to speak.

Dan Stevens was amazing.
