Lets not pretend that not having China, Russia and various Middle East didn’t hurt its chances at 1 billion. If it had released in Russia and China alone, it would have made it past the billion (and then some probably)

I mean yeah it would have passed 1B if it were released in R+C but this is also just a movie starring Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch at the end of the day. It was hyped up as a Civil War type of quasi-Avengers film which it didn't turn out to be. If it had delivered according to expectations, it would have passed a billion without China and Russia.

Also, China would have banned it regardless because of witchcraft like how it banned the original Suicide Squad.

Those Middle East regions are a non-factor.

Man, looking through the archived threads here, some of the 2013/15 threads had over 50 pages for a single weekday. Now we have one of the most historic holds for a blockbuster ever recorded still struggling to cross 40 pages for the entire weekend.

So it is harder to lure people back to BoT than encouraging old people to go to theaters nowadays?

The pandemic absolutely destroyed this place. It's a hollow husk of what it once was.

This forum is mimicking the actual box office, thats all: 2022 is recovery mode and we will need some more time (probably atleast one more year) to get anywhere near normalcy levels.

Speaking personally as a staff member, I'm fine with how our traffic is? A big issue with this forum were the constant trolls and pointless arguments, which is a much lower issue these days. I'd rather have a smaller community with people who are passionate and respectful with one another, rather than a big community full of infighting and angry fanboys. And since the box office has returned, we've had strong traffic increases and consistent posting activity.

Plus the Internet in 2013 was a lot different from the Internet of 2022. There are way more sites out there, Reddit is a much bigger deal, and I don't really think Internet forums are all that attractive anymore, especially to younger people, when Discord and social media can pick up the slack.

Absolutely agree. Quality over quantity any day baby

I was not really around for the old days but there simply isn’t 30 pages of actual BO analysis to discuss for most weekdays. I assume the thread was in large part people joking and shooting the shit with friends, which happens on telegram now instead. Reddit also cannibalizes a lot of total BO

BO recovery won’t necessarily lead to social recovery.
