So I’m just now realizing that one way(BP2) or another(Avatar2) that The Avengers is falling out of the top 10 this year. Wow! I remember when it came out and we thought it’s records wouldn’t be topped for a long time. Now it’s been 10 years and all it has left is the May record I think.

It's all got to do with the ticket prices. I understand that pointing out ticket inflation renders any current box office conversation moot and ...unsexy, but we should always point out that behemoths like The Avengers and especially Titanic are very hard to beat. Titanic in particular is an once in a lifetime phenomenon and while I am happy for Top Gun 2 for surpassing it soon, Titanic's admissions is a thing of beauty, a true cultural moment in history.

While true, those movies didn't have as much competition back then against things like streaming which obviously takes away a lot of attention from the box office. I'd also argue more big blockbusters releases now than before. Especially in the superhero genre.

It’s an absolute joke and the idea they want people to pay money for the service is diabolical. The library is anaemic. Since launch they’ve only added 8 shows (5 of which are just originals being added to the U.K. late), and 10 movies (4 of which are Lifetime Channel Originals).

They launched prematurely. My guess is Paramount rushed it out to boast to investors or a new buyer that they’ve launched the app globally.

Although it will finally provide me with the legal avenue to watch Yellowstone in the U.K.!  The Offer, I want to watch that too.

There’s definitely a few things I’d like to watch on it, but nothing that would get me to sign up for a fee if I wasn’t getting it bundled with Sky.

Nope and DC Pets need some strong legs and international support or else both will end up as flops with the 70M and 90M budgets, respectively. Really bad way to end the Summer. Hopefully Bullet Train posts strong numbers.

I don’t think Bullet Train will post bigger numbers than Nope ($44.4m).

Nope isn’t a flop either.

Bullet Train has way more international appeal tho, and it won't be online. I can see it doing 300M WW, which is far bigger than the 200M or so Nope will end up doing.

Elvis is really the unsung success of this year. I honestly didn't have it beating The Great Gatsby domestically.  In the UK, it's already cracked £20m domestically and already Baz's biggest film there ever.

Do early access showings play previews and trailers

The only times I've gone have ben Aquaman and Shazam and I think it was just WB stuff?

Just wondering because I'm thinking of doing the Bullet Train EA

The general rule is that a studio dictated/approved show, like Sneak Previews (and special advance screenings) will only run ~2 trailers from the same company releasing the film. Essentially, it’s their ad space, so they don’t have to/want to share. Aquaman and Shazam were those types of shows

But EA is in this new weird grey zone between a sneak and a regular show (the latter of which theaters can do whatever they want beyond those same ~2 trailers), so it may vary depending on the studio.

For the opening weekend for sure, but still a whole month of summer to deal with. Thor, Nope were supposed to hit hard as well and before LD weekend arrives TGM will be ahead of them in dailies. Maverick will dodge the bullet.
