The fracture is not “online chatter.” It is the very “actual box office results” which indicate the fracture.

You aren't familiar with iJack/Zatt. This man will defend anything Marvel and overpredicts everything Marvel. Endgame could have opened to Oogieloves numbers and he would try to spin that around as something good. It's better to just smile and nod and let him do his own little scthick.

The lack of Iron Jimbo in this thread is disturbing.

It's insane to think we're 40 pages in without Jimbo. Hope he is just watching avatar multiple times and will come back soon

It's hard for me to imagine the internal multiplier for A2's OW DOM being anything less than a 3.5... I'd honestly think something like a 4 or maybe better will happen and this is coming from someone that saw it and, aside from the just jaw shattering tech wizardry, didn't think much of it. There's nothing else like this out there. There hasn't been in forever. It will play extremely well over the next 2 weeks+ of holiday box office, especially the week directly after Christmas. Little too much doom and gloom here. It was always going to be more about legs with with blockbuster than any Marvel, DC or other more fan driven content.

That said, doesn't seem it'll reach the dizzying numbers hoped for but still could do something close to NWH WW which is an incredible number.

Arrogance is Jim's brand. I kinda love it

We aren’t in the 00s anymore. Let alone in the 90s. And that’s a good thing. Watched Way of the Water with a half packed premiere theater last night, and eh I just want Cameron to direct another Terminator or just come up with something new. After watching lieMAX without 3D glasses last month with Wakanda Forever, I kinda never want to see a 3D film ever again. Avatar or not if your film is dependable of the 3D gimmick just doesn’t cut it for me anymore. Wearing two glasses just isn’t fun.

Yeah MCU fans are overhyping Secret Wars like they did with DS2, imagining about cameos that never happened

Aren't the MCU X-Men debuting after Secret Wars? And bringing back Tobey and Andrew won't have the same effect as seeing them together for the first time in NWH (for me personally, I still felt the novelty/excitement/nostalgia effect after multiple rewatches but it inevitably wore off like a month ago)

Then the Phase 4 momentum killer... yeah

So I think fake concern trolling or wishing for A2's underperformance is weird. This probably our last chance to see an exciting all-timer box office run for a very long time. There will be breakouts next year and after that for sure but none are all-timers.

The handwringing from the Cameron-Stans is hilarious. Already backtracking from the insane box office predictions, they’ve been spewing since ‘09.

I’ll just watch from the sidelines as people eat each other on here.

From Deadline Hollywood -

Critics on Rotten Tomatoes may have simmered to 79% fresh, however, audience reactions as polled by Comscore/Screen Engine’s Posttrak are through the roof at 5 stars, 91% ad 82% definite recommend. They’re numbers any studio would crave. Audience make-up was 89% general, 5% parents, and 6% kids under 12. Men turned out a bit more than women at 59% to 41%. The 18-34 crowd repped 61% of all ticket buyers last night. Those over 45 were 14%. Those under 25 repped 41%. That latter number is potent given how some were concerned how older skewing this property would be. Again, the older Avatar fans will find their way to this movie with the right seat, right format they desire. No one wants to rush to see this sequel and be stuck in a 10 A.M. front seat in 2D.

Diversity turnout was 35% Caucasian, 29% Latino and Hispanic, 15% Asian, and 13% Black.

So, if I'm doing my Math right, 26-44 was 45%, the biggest age demo...so, the teens and young adults from last Avatar...

The nagativity of the past few days drove him away unfortunately. I dont blame him either to be honest.

The dude has been holding down the fort in the main thread for the best part of a decade, against all doubters, but NOW the negativity is too much?

I was hoping the number would edge up a bit more over Deadlines estimates, as they're usually aiming to come in slightly under.

A few days ago, this number would have been a bit more shocking, but, this range has been socialised for the last few days, and in line with those expectations.

I think prediction was $147.5M opening weekend, and, I think I still feel pretty good about that. There's more risk that it falls under than over though, as I need about an 8.7x multiplier to get it right. Possible, but not something you can expect much more.

I'm still skeptical on the legs being strong enough to go beyond a 4x weekend multiplier. But, let's see how the weekend goes before that story gets written, as we only have limited data.

Nah. The argument falls from a cliff with Spider-Man: No Way Home making almost $2B without China less than one year ago. It just doesn’t make sense. Not a single franchise was able to do that other than the MCU. Multiverse of Madness, Ragnarok and Wakanda Forever would all make $1B+ with China, and the international relations between USA and China seem to be mending lately. Marvel isn’t relying on the previous OG Avengers other than Thor. Marvel is diversifying and trying new formats and that’s a good thing. I remember when people said on this very forum that Endgame couldn’t top The Avengers, and yet here we are. It will be fine, Legion.

Thanos Legion was a regular here before you were here, Junior. It’s the biggest film franchise in planet Earth and rightfully so. Good luck keeping movie theaters lights on without them.
