With the MCU doing this right in the middle of negotiations, I won't be surprised at longer strike just to work through this AI nonsense

I understand why they did it though, where would a company called Marvel find actual human artists to make the titles.

Except SAG has immediate consequences. SAG strikes affect even movies that are about to begin press like Mission Impossible, Barbie, Oppenheimer

SDCC 2023 is collaterial damage, with cast being unaviailbe, the studios have really downgraded their presence this year.

The worst part about "AI" is that it makes it entirely too easy to produce trash. Figured Marvel would at least have higher standards if they used it, but here we are.

AI is a tool, just like CGI. You have people who made laughable trash with CGI but also people who made masterpieces thanks to it. If people are producing trash with AI it is because they lack the skill level to use it to it's full potential. Humans should never fear AI cause unleashing the full potential of AI always will require humans making decisions at the end.

For the most part, this. AI, Chat GPT, etc. are tools that can help enhance one's work in a more efficient manner. Those who adopt and use these properly will excel above those who don't. But incorporating them into one's work and not simply using it to blindly produce things will be the key.

Oh there's almost no chance of that. Even the 2008 strike was only 100 days. SAG joining will make things shorter, not longer. Movies not having press junkets or promotion would be a nightmare. No red carpets, nothing.

Yeah I think a more realistic ending is end of Summer especially with SAG joining.

Why the hell are the Emmys in the middle of the year, it makes no sense.

probably but may be totally wrong , Fall used to be the beginning of the TV season when networks were the only ones making series , so it was used to celebrate the previous season of TV

Disney are solely worried about what their shareholders and the stock market thinks about what it does. If it can say "Hey! We can pump out a lot more content using AI for far less money!" then you can bet your bottom dollar they're going to do it as much as humanly possible.

This erasing of shows from networks that get cancelled after one season is going to become a big problem down the line for not just writers but SAG as well. Pirates respect the art form better then the damn companies, at least they'll keep the product to be viewable.

Explain why a network should keep showing a show that audiences have shown they don't want to watch.

Until recently, one season failed TV shows vanished never to be heard of again...not worth syndicating.

I think that AI igoing to be heavily regulated by the government.

Governments barely are able to keep up with social media and that has became an ongoing threat to western democracies. I wish I was that optimistic. First we need to see UE successfully regulating social media for me to have any hopes whatsoever that government - either in the US or anywhere - will be able to actually regulate AI.

What streaming services need to do is adapt the standard of Pilots. Don't just greenlight for 10 episodes a show without thinking it will bring in an audience. The Grease show SCREAMED bomb from the the first look.

What I would do is film a Pilot have it be on the streaming service for a month and from there they can pick up data on whether there's interest to actually greenlight the show to a full series order.
