It would be cool if Monkey Man did well but it feels like it's ceiling is about $40M or so? Buzz does feel a bit on the quiet side despite the SXSW hype.

Challengers only needs to clear $18M to become the biggest movie of Luca Guadagnino's career so even a $30M+ total could probably be attributed to Zendaya's power.

I'm gonna go ahead and say Monkey Man breaks into $50M+, with a shot at going higher to maybe even $70M.

I would actually argue that with GxK and Minus One, were witnessing the most popular Godzilla has been - probably ever.

We definitely underestimated how much Godzilla vs Kong rejuvenated the brand. It was on the brink after how poorly King of the Monsters performed, to the point where the former got pushed back by almost 9 months. I wonder how everything would've played out had the plague never happened.

36.7 OD (9.2+27.5)

Amazing start. Now the Sat hold and Sun drop will determine if it settles in the high 70s for the weekend or may still approach 80M+

Not that it matters but I think Luca will end up with over $1.4 million, a little above Turning Red despite having a lower OW. Probably due to the release during Spring Break times. Soul on the other hand didn't even clear $1 million.

EDIT: Or maybe not, Luca's weekend is actually looking pretty weak.

Panda's hold only makes Ghostbusters look even worse. They should have just retired all the old Ghostbusters except Winston after Afterlife and be done with it. Getting rid of Ghozer with Egon's ghost was the happy ending they needed. Having a bunch of 70 year olds run around in Ghostbuster uniforms rather than passing the torch is just sad.

That's a crazy hold for KFP4. Does that update what people are expecting for domestic total? Maybe like ~190M now?

It's gonna make 200M. It has no direct competition until, what, Garfield?

It has plenty of actual competition right now. It just killed at least one of its competitiors dead if the stats are remotely accurate though.

You say that like being the only animated kids movie for months didn't help Migration a ton.

If studios are fudging now $80m might be locked 😄
