Dude. Relax. 8m is kind of weak when early estimates pegged the film at a 10-11m OD. It's less than Jumper made adjusted five years ago on VD. 

 

The Thursday excuse doesn't work because Valentine's Day is gigantic. Safe House did 6m on Valentine's Day last year and that was its fifth day of release.

People like Bruce as John McClane that`s true but the difference between DH5 and BTTH is that Sly wasn`t playing the beloved John Rambo. So it`s a mix of actor + character. Though Bruce still has a bigger pull than Statham who can`t act peirod and Sly who can`t pick the right roles outside of his comfort zone franchises. Because Bruce is generally a superior actor and tends to star in better movies.

 

Latest Rambo opening day was $6,692,634 (on Friday) , and total gross under $50m....

Latest Rocky was $6,204,105 (on Wednesday).

Kind of meh for Die Hard. Especially if the 840k figure is included. Even with a hearty increase today, it'll pull maybe half of Taken 2's weekend. 

 

Good for Safe Haven. I'm curious to see how WOM will be. 

It will have terrible WOM with that ending!

DH5's slightly above Jumper adjusted actually, but that would still only translate to 30m 3-day and 45m 5-day so 100m would be a major struggle with the WOM it's looking to get.
