Space Jam: A New Legacy | July 16 2021 | WB | Malcolm D. Lee to direct, Ryan Coogler producing. Lebron James to star

Having rewatched the original movie recently....this has a legit shot of being better.

(Didn't hate it, but even though its my generation that insists upon calling it a classic, I found it merely inoffensive. It was more fascinating to me though as a mid-1990s pop culture artifact.)

There's no way in heaven this movie cost $150m. I cant believe it. Who said that?

And no, I can't believe it either. That is, like, stupidly expensive for a Warner Bros. animated movie.

The original was insanely expensive for the time as well (not to mention the number mentioned on the internet is wildly low-balled.)

I wonder if it's $150m before getting tax credits which would lower the budget to nearer $100-120m which considering it looks more VFX heavy compared to Tom and Jerry would make sense.

The $161 million reported to have been spent on the movie in the CA film commission tax report is after tax credits. Pre-credits it's $183 million.

(in case anyone asks, Island Plaza is the production name for Top Gun 2)

Early reactions are coming out. Looks like Ryan Coogler has done it again.

At this rate King James will try to get him to produce the next Lakers’ season.
