They should be marketing this one like....  O/U Mission Impossible 6, or 60 million opening weekend.  They spent the money, now force the product out like what Illumination does with their animated movies.  Deliver it and if it flops it flops.  Of course, WB might be in position to loose everything they invest in going forward with extra forced advertising and different marketing to make this seem like an out of nowhere mega-tentpole..

But, it could happen.  Opening around 30 and hoping for WOM that allows this to play strong over 6 weeks would just be a disaster IMO.

This movie probably isn't even worth promoting. I mean, I'll be there opening day, but unless critics somehow see it as good in an ironic way, I wouldn't be surprised with a lower RT score than Slender Man.

This movie is almost certainly garbage. But I'm looking forward to seeing it. And I even hate Jason Statham, but a giant shark movie is going to be enough to get me to the theater anyways.

They absolutely should market and promote this. It's the type of movie people enjoy watching, a mix of scary and fun and action.

Could always do the numbers Fantastic Four was forecasted to put up in August.

4,000+ venues, 45 OW / 125 domestic.

Seems to be gearing for 20-30 OW range, in line with

Tomb Raider, Pacific Rim, Maze Runner, Skyscraper, Peter Rabbit & Insidious, but under Rampage and Wrinkle in Time.

Maybe they will do a last minute horror extravaganza push and get this one to do 50/125.
