TS3 is not an accurate comparison because it only had midnights back in 2010 (in fact I was one of the attendees). IO and DM2 are post-TDKR and therefore had 8 PM previews. That's a HUGE advantage for animated films, something that will definitely boost their preview figured. If previews were somehow greater than DM2, though, then hold onto your seats, because this could have an opening day in the mid-to-high 30's... Last week was amazing because nobody expected anything like it, and because the projections kept rising with every update. IO will still do a standard, strong opening weekend. It's just that there's JW there alongside it, possibly the biggest movie in box office history at this point. Jurassic World will still likely beat it this weekend and/or both films do supreme business. At this point both films are winning either way.
