It's not a typical December release, I'll give you that.  Still,  predicting a low multiplier means the poster either thinks :

- The movie will suck and WOM will kick in

- The movie will be so frontloaded because of the rush factor that it will affect its legs (Harry Potter DH2 type of run)

 

Just remember that a 3,1X multi in mid December is very rare and considered very bad.

I am legend had a 3.3 multiplier and opened to a 3rd of what this will open to. That wasnt a bad film. I agree it seems a little low, but it's certainly possible even if the film doesn't suck.

To be perfectly honest, it's really hard to compare to other December releases.  Most of the blockbusters opened on Wednesdays and we never had any hyped blockbusters aside from the LOTR and Hobbit movies and only ROTK can really be compared to TFA.  I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong here.

Well im predicting a 3.4-3.5 multiplier anyways and I think that would be pretty good considering the undoubtedly huge opening.
