I skipped Zoolander 2 because I thought it looked terrible from the start but wow that's a bad number for it.

Why didn't it have the "Jurassic World factor"?

Uh wut?  Can't tell if that's a serious questions or not.

Wait, his box office appeal was lost due to overuse? Not because, you know, people didn't like the movies he was in?

They liked most of the movies he was in.

This is the last time Valentine's Day fell on a Sunday. I think Deadpool is a lock to at least stay flat.

There is no way it drops that much on Sunday - it's Valentine's Day.

Peace,

Mike

I was serious. Obviously it's not on Jurassic Park's level of popularity but I thought the fact that Derek Zoolander is so recognizable to the younger generation (hell Stiller's Instagram account is called "zoolander") would make it a multi-generational hit like JW was.

I don't know Brian, I don't really see Deadpool as a romantic date movie.  26.5% drop is high though, should be less with Monday being a holiday.

lol you don't compare a $45m cult classic to a $400m blockbuster.  Something like Anchorman 2 or Dumb and Dumber to yeah, but even those were way more popular than Zoolander.

Zoolander just had the "cult audience" which isn't fully mainstream. Jurassic World was a film that was in Development Hell for years and with Chris Pratt's popularity that helped the film as well. Plus the marketing was fantastic.

Right now, I think it might do something like this, going by the lowest number on Rth's range:

42M

30M

30M (OW: 102M)

20M (4-day OW: 122M)

The WW opening is gonna be majestic as fuck since this is also breaking out madly everywhere else. It is not just an American thing.

Oh yeah. Here it will have one of the biggest OWs ever and easily the biggest one for a CBM. WOM is through the roof.
