Tarzan did a bit better than predicted because it is a big holiday week end in America, nothing more.

I don't know.  People who have seen it like it, and it has an A- Cinemascore, which bucks what the critics were saying.

How much can Tarzan do outside Dom and China?

110-115 (Dom) + 30-35 (China) = 140-150

OS-China could be 150-200m?

So 290-350m WW.

My range is 350-400 mill

Lol. But it really did have strong holds over the weekend and that A+ CS for people under 18 shows it is well liked. Also, the audience rating on RT is now up to 74% from 73% yesterday and 69% 2 days ago. There's way too much competition for 150m to happen, but I think with strong WOM 130m (basically the same multi as The Last Airbender) is in the cards.

There likely won't be a sequel though.

I agree.

I think it can do a bit more than that in China. Apparently it has a very good release date. Thinking 50m at least. Plus 120-130 DOM. So 170-180m from US+China.

And around 220-230m from the rest for 400-410m WW.

Ok. You think 200-250 OS-China?

Around that yes. After this DOM opening it should give some WW buzz

Oh please. People don't pay $20 to see something just because it's a holiday.

BFG says "Hi".

No, I think something's going on here.  Too early to say great WOM.  But right of the gate it is holding its own which is better than was predicted.

It doesn't change much anyway IMO, people will forgot this movie ever exited in 15 days. tops.

Airbender had a $17m Thursday, without that its multiplier was about 2.8x. If Tarzan follows its weekend drops it gets 108m total, I think it could actually do a bit better (WOM on Airbender was definitely worse) but I think 120 is the roof.

Off topic i known i i saw previous pages ago you have talked about Michael Bay.

Love this man and his movies and i m not alone even Chris Nolan loves him.

Right now i am watching The rock for like the 20th times :) Always good a pure 90's popcorn action flick.

If it does $25-27 million next weekend, maybe :P $105-115 million DOM is where it'll likely end up. Definitely unexpected for Tarzan to finish above pretty much the entire May-June lineup except Civil War, Dory and Central Intelligence. If it does $105 million+, that would also put it above Angry Birds and Conjuring 2.

CI is killing it. 124.3m+ will give a multiplier of 3.5x+ :o

I wouldn't say that's particularly stellar.

Well-received comedies usually get a 3.4x-3.8x. Even middle-of-the-road comedies like Grown Ups, We're the Millers and Identity Thief can get a 3.5x+ with no competition or likable stars. With zero competition for its demo and the Rock/Hart combo, $120 million+ DOM isn't all that surprising. I actually thought it had potential to be a surprise $175 million+ hit this summer.

Over 4x ($142 million+) would be killing it IMO.
