Eh... Bourne was never all that huge to begin with, it's a solid franchise that has depended on quality entries to tell more of the story.  Ultimatum was a nice conclusion, and this is just going further because there was room to.

It'll likely do decent numbers, but it'll be lucky if it can even outdo Legacy.

It really should have concluded with Ultimatum. Perfect trilogy.

But goddamn why did you have to throw that last bit out there.

Trek should at least be able to get across 180M and perhaps even cross the 200M mark. Its domestic showing could be the best for a non-300M+ movie this summer, unless Bourne manages to cross 200M. We'll see. A little farther in the feast or famine world.

Update(with actuals): Star Trek:Beyond led with $59.2 million this weekend which is ahead of last year's paramount sequel Mission Impossible:Rogue Nation($55.2 million). But it's the lowest grossing of the three new Star Trek films. Overall look for Star Trek to launch with at least $170 million domestic.            Universal/Illumination Entertainment's family film The Secret Life Of Pets is still holding up strong and should end its run around $340 million domestic.                                      While it was a tight race for 3rd/4th/5th place this weekend. Lights Out turned off Ice Age and Ghostbusters this weekend with an impressive $21.6 million debut. Horror has been on a roll this summer, and each has made north of $50 million domestic. Lights Out should hold up decent  and make close to $60 million domestic.                    Family sequel Ice Age:Collison Course melted in domestic outing with a weak $21.3 million debut which is around the same field as 2013 animated flop Turbo($21.2 million) but Turbo burned off demand with a Wednesday debut. Look for Ice Age to end its run around $55 million.

Star Trek:Beyond has dailies to prove to itself it could do fine. Jason Bourne should bring a decent amount this weekend considering that Matt Damon has made a comeback after not doing a whole lot besides We Bought A Zoo. Elysium did alright with the help of overseas. The Martian proved his mojo is back.
