Good lord this was a dead weekend thread.

It matches the numbers. I am expecting similar weekend threads until the MCU and Trolls arrive in early November.

-Solid for Accountant and Kevin Hart.

-Looks like a >50% drop for GOTT, it's probably gonna end with around 65-70m which is ok but not the huge hit that Universal was hoping for.

-Miss Peregrine holding nicely, being the only teen offering during Sept/Oct looks like it's going to pay off; I think this legs it out to atleast 80m.

-Mag 7 probably not crossing 100m, pretty mediocre legs after a good opening weekend for this specific genre.

-Birth of A Nation totally died, i guess that A cinemascore meant nothing when audiences outside of the core just aren't interested or turned off. With likely no Oscar love this won't even make 20m. Turned out to be a bad investment for Fox Searchlight, they will be very careful what they buy at Sundance from now on.

Mag 7 is currently at 84.8M. Assuming 40% drops from here on out:

3.1M (87.9M)

1.9M (89.8M)

1.1M (90.9M)

100M is going to depend on weekdays.

Simply not happening. They won't even try the expansion thing with this one like they did with Sausage Party.

Great opening for The Accountant, good for Kevin Hart. GOTT fell more than 50%, kind of high for a female driven lit adaptation.

Did Sony give up on getting Sausage Party to 100M? It doesn't have weekend numbers or a theater count this weekend.

The Affleck train can't be stopped. GOTT WOM is mixed so the drop isn't unexpected.

They probably did after last week's awful result in over 1000 theaters.

There have already been people within the industry claiming that the Nate Parker scandal is gonna change how deals are made at the festivals and that studios will be doing background checks before signing 8-figure deals. Because Birth of a Nation was completely sunk by the controversy.

The times are getting slashed as we type. Will it even pass Open Road Films' 30th ranking movie (The Fluffy Movie - 2.8$ mil)? I'm betting no.

Well, it just might! Good for you, Max Steel.

I'm surprised that's something they've never done....wait, this is Hollywood, most of them have a laundry list of covered up crimes themselves. Never mind.

at the very least, a nate parker background check would have just consisted of checking his wikipedia page. been there for a while. I remember googling him after seeing arbitrage 4 years ago and thinking he was great and there was a whole section devoted to it then.

The Accountant cashes in a decent amount of dough this weekend.                 Overall the top 12 was at $88.5 million which is down 21% from last year.                                                                                                             Warner Bros. thriller The Accountant was off to a solid start with an estimated $24.7 million. That debut is ahead of The Town's $23.4 million debut, and  well ahead Argo's $19 million debut. But it's way less than Gone Girl's $37 million debut 2 years ago. But to keep in mind all of those were either based on a book, or had awards talk just prior to its release.  The Accountant doesn't have any of those, and for a non-awards or based on book Affleck film in terms of attendance The Accountant opened around the same field as Changing Lanes($25.3 million adjusted opening weekend in 2016 dollars). With solid word of mouth(87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes) and an rare A grade on Cinemascore, The Accountant could hold up fine with audiences although Jack Reacher, Inferno, and Doctor Strange could hinder it but either way The Accountant could hold up decent for the next few weeks and make between $70-$80 million domestic.        It was a tight race this weekend for 2nd and 3rd place.  Stand-up concert film Kevin Hart: What Now? Debuted with an estimated $11.9 million. That is the best debut ever for a stand-up concert film edging out The Original Kings Of Comedy's $11 million debut 16 years ago. Overall that's a solid start for a stand-up concert film, and it's also to note that with its low budget of $9.9 million this should be a decent hit for Universal. With a decent 76% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, What Now? Could perform in line with other stand-up films and have so-so legs and with Boo! A Madea Halloween coming out this Friday which could bring in the same audience it's going to take a drop but not too harsh or not too small. Look for  What Now? To laugh up around $30 million domestic.                                                 Last weekend's champ, The Girl On The Train took a beating from The Accountant this weekend with a steep 51% drop and is at an estimated $11.9 million this weekend. With more competition, Girl On The Train will drop less but should make around $70 million domestic. Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children had another  solid hold at 41% which is pretty good. Look for Peregrine to make north of $80 million domestic.                              Deepwater Horizon dropped okay this weekend with 45%. But it's still a big flop for Lionsgate, and should make around $60 million domestic.   Storks had a decent drop under 35%, and should make $70 million domestic.                                                      Magnificent Seven had a decent hold at 42%, and should come close to $100 million domestic.          Middle School:The Worst Years Of My Life had a decent hold with a 38% drop, and should make between $15-$20 million domestic.        Sully had a little bit of turbulence this weekend with a bigger drop but not harsh with 41%, and should make $130 million domestic.           The Birth Of A Nation crashed with a 61% decline, and should make $15 million domestic.                               This weekend's other new nationwide opener Max Steel bombed with an estimated $2.1 million that debut is better than the $1.3 milllion debut of Jem And The Holograms last October but that's not saying much. Look for Max Steel to come close to $5 million domestic.      Masterminds took a harsher drop and should make around $20 milllion domestic.

Besides the rape stuff, there is also this from 2014

In a 2014 interview with BET during publicity for the film Beyond the Lights that included Parker and director Gina Prince-Bythewood, Parker stated that in order to "preserve the black man" he would not be willing to portray gay characters. The video was later taken down and is no longer available.[103][104] In 2014, Parker also stated he would not take roles, such as gay roles, that he considered to be "emasculating"
