It’s premature but I do feel somewhat vindicated in predicting that this would likely be the lowest grossing of the three MCU movies this year.

it's gonna do bonkers OS easy over L&T and unless BP2 does really good OS it's gonna be top earner easy

Critics, general audiences and fanboys love the formula which is very reliable four quadrant entertainment.

But controversy and keeping people on their toes is a good idea too. It gives the MCU just enough edge to stay relevant.

"Hey, want to go see this?  Supposed to be a crazy thrill ride and is only 2 hours."

Most will be in.  A lot easier to stomach than sitting through Eternals for 2 hours 40 minutes.

the only good part of eternals was hearing TIME by pink floyd on dolby

So after reading all those, I suspect the people that didn't like Wanda's arc that much were people that have never seen WandaVision.

So my guess is that you don't need to watch it, you will still like the movie, but Wanda's arc may fall a little bit flat. And the people that saw WandaVision like her arc.

If that is the case, I think I am fine with that.

PS I so cannot wait for tomorrow. Reviews got me hyped up. 34 hours to go

@Macleod after hearing that you still wanna test that theory or you gonna watch it before? 😀

I was extremely hesitant, but now maybe this might actually be for me. Haven't liked an MCU thing in a few years, but this sounds delightful.

It's certainly got that Raimi DNA more so than the typical MCU stuff (although that is there of course).

The people who will be mad are those MCU stans who expect Wanda to stay on her pedestal as an ideal, one-dimensional female superhero (as many critics said the writing for Wanda's arc might be controversial for some people). Casual moviegoers prefer an entertaining product, non-stop action scenes with pretty visuals which this film can deliver.

I plead the Fifth.  Though right now in the U.S. we really should be thinking more about the Supreme Court.

I'll get around to catching up on the Disney+ stuff eventually...probably this summer. I don't currently subscribe.

These reviews would generally make me lean towards skipping it in theatres...but RAIMI directing is the one sellable point to me that will probably get me in at least a matinee!  (And yes, if I go, I will only go for top-quality, I.E. Dolby or a functioning LieMax within reasonable driving distance...and without projected red dots on the screen.)

Lot of reactions talking about signature Raimi, love to see it! Feige let him go full Raimi it seems.

Raimi said that he had full creative control about how to make the movie, except the ending and some plot points were already established.

Loved it. What a treat, Raimi needs to make more of these. I had no idea what was going on story wise, but as a visual medium - great movie.

Well that settles it. If Jim stans are pleased, I will be too. Did you see the Avatar trailer in 3D?
