Hadn't heard of Get Out before this weekend but that is a really impressive debut. Always good when a small film strikes gold.

although judging by a quick google it's a "horror film about racism"? lol I'll pass thanks

Oh Tree.

Not 100% on this, but I know that Regal was doing a Film Festival of the Best Picture noms but they weren't showing all the movies on all the days. So those may have been the days they were showing Hacksaw and the drops were the days it was off the schedule.

Resident Evil blowing up in China, with insane 94 million opening weekend.

I can imagine Paul W.S. Anderson sleeping with Milla, when they suddenly get a call from Sony. They travel like crazy, to Sony's headquarters. Minutes later, everybody is laughing as they confirm Resident Evil Reunion or Resident Evil Regeneration or Resident Evil Reborn or maybe Resident Evil: Return will be coming soon.

Get Out greets in a big welcome this weekend, Fifty Shades passes $100 million.

A few months ago, if Get Out was expected to beat Lego Batman, it would've been a crazy but bold idea. While Rock Dog and Collide both bombed.

Overall the top 12 was at $106.9 million which is down 16% from last year when Deadpool had another solid second weekend lead.

Horror/Thriller Get Out led the weekend this weekend on the high-end of expectations with an estimated $30.5 million, which is a great start for the start of a film that doesn't rely on star power or is sequel-based/Super-hero based. It's also great to note that film has had outstanding word of mouth!(an amazing 87% and above audience score on rotten tomatoes). With solid word of mouth, and a potential counter-programmer against the bigger films in March, look for Get Out to make between $85-$90 million domestic or even close to $100 million.

Lego Batman had a decent hold close to 42% drop, which is a slightly steeper drop than The Lego Movie's 37% drop 3 years ago. And look for Lego Batman to make between $165-$175 million domestic.

Back on the top three, John Wick:Chapter Two had a better hold than it's predecessor close to a 45% drop which the first film dropped around 48% its third weekend, and with Logan coming out this Friday. John Wick should make around $85 million domestic.

The Great Wall collapsed with a  near 53% drop, which is steeper than February bombs such as Jupiter Ascending, and Seventh Son. But is on-par with Pompeii. The Great Wall should make around $45 million.

Fifty Shades Darker passed $100 million domestic this weekend, which is the third film so far in 2017 to achieve that mark, and should make close to $120 million domestic.

Fist Fight had a near 50% drop, which is on-par with the first Ride Along, and better than Ride Along 2 last year. But worse than the Horrible Bosses films. With mixed-to-poor word of mouth, look for Fist Fight to knockout at $30 million.

Hidden Figures had another solid drop under 20%, and if it has any oscar wins tonight, either way look for Hidden Figures to launch around $170 million domestic.

The other Oscar contender for tonight, La La Land had a small increase this weekend. Just like Hidden Figures, let's see how it does tonight and if it wins awards, look for La La Land to dance around $160 million.

Split had a solid hold, even with Get Out debuting on the high end this weekend, it's still making a solid amount, and should make at least $145 million.

Lion had another solid drop under 10%, and should make above $50 million.

A Dog's Purpose had a decent drop under 40%, and should make between $65-$70 million domestic.

The two other new releases, Rock Dog and Collide both bombed. Rock Dog debuted with an estimated $3.7 million which is well below Lionsgate's other family film Norm Of The North, and should make $7 million domestic. Long-delayed film Collide delivered one of the top 6 worst debuts in over 2,000 screens with an estimated $1.5 million which is well below any comparable titles, and should make below $5 million.
